Karnali to hold winter session on February 7

The State Assembly in Karnali is holding its winter session on coming February 7. A meeting of the Karnali State government’s council of ministers has agreed to summon the fifth session on the above mentioned date. Besides, the meeting  endorsed working procedure 2076 BS relating to the legal assistance and the working procedure 2076 BS relating to the disaster risk insurance, according to Karnali government spokesperson and minister for land management, agriculture and cooperatives Bimala KC.  According to the legal assistance-related working procedure, 20 facilitators: ten chief facilitators in ten districts in the Karnali and 10 at the local levels will be appointed.  It has been decided by the meeting.  The Karnali State has formed the State Tourism Board by executing its previous decision. The Board has the representation from all ten districts in the State. The 11-member Board comprises Babi Kishore Gurung (Dolpa), Lalitjung Mahat (Jumla), Dansingh Karki (Mugu), Bed Bahadur Shahi (Jajarkot), Marmajung Bam (Kalikot) and Laiku Lama (Humla). International conference calls for early identification of mental disease

The 7th international conference on developmental disability concluded here Saturday with a call to early detection and treatment of mental complications to help people with disabilities live a complete life. Issuing the Rajshahi Declaration on Disabilities, the conference called for emphasis on prevention measures to detect mental complications in people with disabilities. International Chair of socio-individual development through collaboration (SIVUS) Dr Katsuhiro Yamashita called for establishment of human rights in order to give due attention to the mental health of people with disabilities and help them live a quality life. The SIVUS International was founded in 1974. It works for mental health of the people with disabilities. The first SIVUS conference was held in Norway in 1993. A total of 60 working papers were presented in the two-day conference organised to discuss efforts being made to develop the capacity of the people with disabilities and the challenges they face across the globe. More than 500 delegates from Malaysia, China, Spain, Bangladesh, the US, India, Japan, Portugal, Sri Lanka, Sweden and Nepal took part in the conference. The delegates included mental health experts, psychologists, experts in the field, and researchers as well as academics and journalists. Ex-MP Karki passes away

Former member of Parliament Gambhir Jung Karki passed away this morning. He was 76. Ex-president of the Nepali Congress in Palpa district, Karki was suffering from kidney related ailments. He died in course of treatment at the Grande Hospital in Kathmandu, according to NC Palpa Secretary Jhapindra Gaire. Former President Rambaran Yadav has said warned of the crisis arising from the destruction of the natural heritage being caused in the name of development. Vice Prez cancels to attend Kotihom Mahayagya

Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun has cancelled the schedule to attend the Kotihom Mahayagya as the event already drew dispute.
