Soon after assuming the post of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Nepal Communist Party leader Agni Prasad Sapkota has announced of giving up the general membership of the party. Will always maintain dignity of supreme institution, Sapkota says

Newly elected Speaker to the House of Representatives (HoR), Agni Prasad Sapkota, has expressed the commitment that he would always do his best and remain responsible to maintain dignity of the people’s supreme institution by adopting democratic norms and values. Talking to the media persons after his election to the post, Sapkota said he would perform his impartial and balanced role. On the occasion, he thanked the Nepal Communist Party for making him candidate to the post and the Nepali Congress, Rastriya Janata Party and Federal Socialist Party, Nepal for their support. Asked about latest writ petition filed against Sapkota at the Supreme Court, the newly elected Speaker, however, did not make any comment in this regard. Objective thinking necessary in Nepal-India relation

Dr. Lokraj Baral Some time ago, there was a big noise that India included a part of Nepali land on its map. Despite India defying the rumor, sister organizations of various political parties took to the streets. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also came up with a press release claiming the land till Limpiyadhura is Nepal’s territory. Many expressed doubts that the tie between Nepal and India would deteriorate. However, the issue is now nowhere to be heard. It is evident that only spreading rumors and hitting the streets is not a solution to the same. We have been weak in finalizing these issues. Matters like these must be addressed via ‘Quiet diplomacy’, by favoring one’s side. India is the closest neighboring country for Nepal. In spite of petty issues, the relation between the two countries is incomparable, and they are complementary to each other. As India is a big country, hitting streets here will not really hook anyone’s attention and will not make any impact in Hindustan. Being a nationalist by publishing write-ups in newspapers staying in Kathmandu, is not enough. One should take note of what is happening in ‘Ground reality’. Women tourism entrepreneurs have sought their additional role on tourism business. At an interaction organized by the Women Tourism Entrepreneurs Forum (WOTEF) on ‘opportunity and challenges to women in tourism business’ here today, the women entrepreneurs dwelt on how they could excel in entrepreneurship and make the management more effective. At the discussion, founding chairperson of Media Advocacy Group, Babita Basnet, reminded that women had become successful in entrepreneurship of late, thereby playing leading role on social transformation. She argued that social structure would be robust and dynamic with women entrepreneurship and help pave way for economic progress. So, women must be given role with authority.
