NPR 6.96 billion support from India to Nepal for house reconstruction

On13th November2019, EXIM Bank of India, on behalf of Government of India,  released NPR 3.10billion (approx. USD 27.9 million) to Government of Nepalfrom concessional Line of Credit towards reimbursement of 3rdtrancheof housing reconstruction in Nuwakot and Gorkha districts. USD 50 million from Line of Credit was pledged to support reconstruction of 50,000 private houses in Nuwakot and Gorkha districts in Nepal. In addition, India committed USD 100 million as grant for supporting these houses. So far, India has reimbursed NPR 6.96 billion (approx USD 69.6 million) towards reimbursement of first and second tranches to home owners. The support by Government of India also includes provision of Socio-Technical Facilitation to the home owners to encourage them to rebuild their homes as per the Government of Nepal’s earthquake resilient norms. Nepali Officers start their training in India on Anti Money Laundering and Countering Financing of Terrorism

The third group of 21 officers of the Government of Nepal have started their 6 day training on ‘Anti-Money Laundering and Countering Financing of Terrorism’ at the National Academy of Customs, Indirect Taxes and Narcotics (NACIN), Faridabad on 2 December 2019. This is a special tailor-made course designed at the request of Government of Nepal for a total of 60 officers. It is an example of Government of India’s commitment to enhance the capacities of various agencies of the Government of Nepal. The course is fully supported by the Government of India under the Ministry of External Affairs’ Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Programme. The training will enhance the capabilities of participating officers to effectively deal with the matters pertaining to Anti-Money Laundering and Countering Financing of Terrorism. Two batches of Nepali officers had already successfully completed their training modules in India. The NACIN is a premier training institute of Government of India in the field of financial investigations and anti-money laundering matters with state-of-the-art learning facilities. Indian Women’s Association hands over two electric vehicles to PADT

Mrs. Namrita Puri, President, Indian Women’s Association (IWA) handed over two 8 seater electric vehicles with high end Lithium ion batteries to Dr. Pradip Dhakal, Member-Secretary of Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT) on 27thNovember 2019 in the premises of Pashupati Temple. These eco-friendly vehicles are manufactured by an Indian Company Gayam Motor Works. Mrs. Puri stated that these eco-friendly vehicles will be helpful for the pilgrims visiting the holy Pashupati temple especially for elderly and differently abled people, women and children. These vehicles will also create employment opportunity for two women. Handing over of e-vehicles will be another milestone in strengthening cultural and religious ties between people of India and Nepal and bringing people of the two countries closer. Indian Women’s Association is an organization of Indian Women under the patronage of Embassy of India with the aim to provide friendly meeting ground for Indian Women resident in Nepal. SAARC CCI participates at Kunming China Forum; Vice President Dhakal Addressed

In order to promote exchanges and cooperation on commercial legal services among the governments, enterprises, research institutions from China, South Asian and Southeast Asian countries and to further play the role of commercial legal services in the promotion of trade and investment, SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry and China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT-Yunnan), jointly organized the “2019 Forum on China-South Asia, Southeast Asia Commercial Legal Cooperation,” in Kunming International Convention and Exhibition Center, China.
