CREEW marked 10 years of successful research grant program

On the occasion of 10 years of successful research grant program, CREEW organized a grant alumni meet on 21 December, 2019 at Hotel Shangri-La, Kathmandu. In the event past and present grantees shared their views on how ‘CREEW Research Grant Program’ helped them in their early academic/research career stage. CREEW Research Grant Program is one of the annual periodic program of CREEW since its inception in 2008. The program aims to facilitate academic research for post graduate students in the field of civil engineering, environmental engineering, geo-technical engineering, environmental science, hydrology, meteorology, agriculture, forestry, botany and other relevant fields by providing academic research grants, research suggestions/advises. Apart for this, CREEW encourages its grant awardees to publish their research in international/national journals and provides platforms to present their research outputs in international/ notational conferences and symposium. From 2008 to 2019 a total of 86 post-graduate scholars from various universities and academic institution have been directly benefited from CREEW Research grant program. Nepali Officers in India undergoing a tailor-made course on anti-corruption

The first batch of 21 officers of Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) of Nepal has started their 6 day training on ‘Prevention of Fraud, Bribery and Corruption’ at the Gujarat Forensic Sciences University (GFSU), Gandhi nagar on 16 December 2019. This latest training for Nepali officers reaffirms India’s continuing commitment for capacity building of Nepali officers. The Second batch of 21 CIAA officers of Nepal is scheduled to undergo the training from January 11 to 16, 2020. This is a tailor-made course specially designed at the request of Government of Nepal for a total of 42 CIAA officers. This course will strengthen the institutional capacity of CIAA to curb corrupt practices and enhance good governance in Nepal. The course mainly focuses on identifying factors for corruption, its impact on the economy and methodology for its detection and prevention. The Course would enhance skills of CIAA Officers for IT-based investigations, sharpen their analytical capabilities and help them learn new methodologies which would empower them to detect, prevent and prosecute corrupt and fraudulent individuals. India’s support to construct 11 Earthquake Affected Cultural Heritage Sites in Nepal

On 12December 2019, the Embassy of India, Kathmandu signed an Agreement with the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH), India for Post-Earthquake reconstruction of 11 Cultural Heritage sites in Nepal. The Agreement was signed by Dr. Ajay Kumar, Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of India, Kathmandu, on behalf of the Government of India, and by Dr. C.T. Mishra, Member Secretary,INTACH. Senior officials from the National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) of Nepal and Manjeev Singh Puri, Ambassador of India to Nepal graced the occasion. The INTACH will provide Design and Project Management Consultancy services for reconstruction of 11 Cultural Heritage sites in four districts (Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur and Solukhumbhu). The INTACH will work with the Department of Archeology (DoA) of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Nepal to reconstruct/conserve Cultural Heritage sites as per the Government of Nepal’s guidelines on reconstruction of Cultural Heritage Sites. Kendriya Vidyalaya : 46th Annual Day Celebration

Kendriya Vidyalaya, Embassy of India Kathmandu celebrated its 46th Annual Day on 05th Dec 2019. The spectacular cultural event, organized at Nepal Academy Hall, Kamaladi, Kathmandu, was graced by His Excellency Shri Manjeev Singh Puri, Ambassador of India to Nepal, as the Chief Guest. Lighting of the Ceremonial Lamp marked the auspicious beginning to the colorful extravaganza. The Principal In-Charge expressed deep gratitude to the Chief Guest and all other guests who envisaged and steered the vidyalaya on the path of spectacular success. The colourful programme comprised of some scintillating dance performances, vocal recitals, educative skit and instrumental music played by the School Band. His Excellency Shri. Manjeev Singh Puri, who felicitated the students and teachers for excellence in scholastic and co-scholastic spheres, said he was greatly impressed with the progress of the vidyalaya on all fronts.
