Deputy Speaker should resign: NCP Spokesperson Shrestha

Lamjung, Jan 14: Spokesperson of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP), Narayan Kaji Shrestha, has said Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives needs to resign in order to retain Speaker’s post to the NCP. At a programme organized by the district chapter of Press Organization here Tuesday, Spokesperson Shrestha reminded that the constitution has not allowed the same party to have Speaker and Deputy Speaker. “Our party is the most dominant one in parliament. So, it is natural for us to claim Speaker’s post which is lying vacant. For it to happen, Deputy Speaker should step down,” he stressed. He also shared that Deputy Speaker was requested to step down as per the constitution. “As long as she sticks to the post, we lose the chance to get Speaker,” he claimed. On a different note, the Spokesperson said the border dispute with India in the far west is not new. Nepal has been continuously speaking for its sovereignty and territorial integrity. Nepal Build Tech Expo to kick off on Friday

Kathmandu, Jan 14: The international-level ‘Nepal Build Tech Expo, 2020′ is being held in Bhaktapur from coming Friday to Sunday. This is the first of its kind expo to be in the country, which is being organized by the Ministry of Physical Infrastructures and Transport and other organizations. China ready to support BP Koirala cancer hospital: Ambassador Hou

Chinese ambassador to Nepal, Hou Yanqi has committed to support the health sector in Nepal. Human Rights violations on the rise

Gandaki state recorded a total of 666 incidents of violation of human rights in the year 2019. During the year, 640 people suffered from violation of their rights, carried out by the state and non-state actors. The Informal Sector Service Centre (INSEC) shared the details at an interaction on ‘human rights and human development’ organised here on Friday. INSEC Gandaki coordinator Shiva Khakurel shared the information on human rights violations collected for the human rights yearbook. Accordingly, 15 women and 185 men fell victim to human rights violations in the year. Speaking on the occasion, State Minister for Social Development Nardevi Pun said the State had the jurisdiction only to promote mother tongue and include issues in the local level curriculum. Deputy Superintendent of Police of Kaski Raj Kumar KC said the police were committed to the protection of human rights.
