Former Prime Minister and chairman of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP), Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said there is no case against party leader Agni Prasad Sapkota. Talking to journalists here today, the ruling party chair said the propaganda being spread that leader Sapkota has a court case against him is false. When asked on this issue, party chair Dahal said, “I have been mentioning this from time to time that Agni Sapkota has no case against him.” Stating that the entire parliament has accepted him, Dahal insisted that the nation has come together at a single place in his favour and it was no use to unnecessarily make this topic an issue. Sapkota has filed his candidacy for the election to the post of Speaker of the House of Representatives, the lower House of Federal Parliament. Sapkota is the lone candidate for the high post and the House of Representatives is sure to elect him to the post when it convenes on January 26. Responding to another question that his home district, Chitwan, was without a police chief since some time, he said the government will send the police chief at its convenience. Dahal added that the incumbent Deputy Superintendent of Police in the district has also been carrying out his duty well. “Is there any security threat here at present? I do not feel there is such situation,” he said. Dahal arrived here by plane in connection with participating in two separate programmes to be organised in Nawalparasi.
