Adverse weather affects domestic flights at TIA

Adverse weather caused by winter rainfall for a couple of days has affected operations of domestic flights at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA). The international flights are, however, regular, the TIA Office said. According to TIA general manager Devendra KC, domestic service at TIA has been partially disrupted due to adverse weather. Westerly wind brings precipitation, weather to improve from Saturday

Cloudy condition prevails across the country today with rainfall and snowfall in the high hilly and mountainous areas, due to the influence of the westerly low pressure system. Light to moderate rainfall has occurred in most of the places of the country while light to moderate snowfall has taken place in the high hilly and mountainous areas, the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, Meteorological Forecasting Division said. Meteorologist Sajina Shakya said precipitation is taking place in most places of the country today due to the influence of the westerly low pressure system. She said the weather will likely improve from Saturday. The Division has issued a special weather bulletin for the next 24 hours, warning of the possibility of heavy snowfall in many places of the high hilly and mountainous region of the central and western part of the country. It has urged for precaution in view of this. The weather is generally to completely cloudy in the western, central and eastern hilly region, the Division stated.
