Martadi-Kolti road open for traffic

The Martadi-Kolti road has opened for traffic after a month-long obstruction due to heavy snowfall. With support from Badimalika municipality, the Ward no. 7 office cleared the snow on the road to open it for public transportation. The road had been blocked following accumulation of snow in the Paurakhe lekh and adjoining areas of the road. Heavy snowfall as well as rain had hit the road last month.  Traffic has resumed on the Martadi-Kolti road since Friday, said the ward chairperson Dharma Raj Padhyaya. Sharma new chair of Tourist Bus Association

Iswar Sharma has been elected the Chair of the Tourist Bus Association of Nepal (TBAN). The 9th annual general meeting of the Association on Friday elected a seven-member executive committee led by Sharma. Govt to slash tariff to encourage electric oven

Lalitpur, Jan 24 : Minister for Energy Barsha Man Pun has announced that the government is slashing the electricity tariff for domestic use meant to encourage people for more domestic consumption of energy. At a seminar on promotion of electric oven organized here Friday, review in existing power tariff is proposed with the tariff determination commission and new tariff would be fixed to increase the consumption of power as the power generation in country was increasing for the coming fiscal year. “In order to reduce the dependency on traditional fuel and LP gas for cooking, grant will be given for 10,000 electric ovens this year and 100 thousand ovens next year to promote the electric ovens for increasing internal consumption and it would be increased gradually,” Minister Pun said. On the occasion, Minister Pun argued that the electricity can be exported to India and other neighbouring countries if it is surplus in the domestic market. But, he added that domestic consumption was the main priority. The use of electric ovens would not only increase the internal consumption of power but also support in health, environment, women empowerment and gender equality, according to him. Dailekh District Hospital second in minimum service criteria assessment

The District Hospital, Dailekh has secured the second position in the assessment of minimum service criteria among government hospitals across the country. The hospital, among 84 government-run hospitals across the country, obtains 92 per cent score in the evaluation of the status of its service delivery. The Sindhuli District Hospital has achieved 94 per cent to be in the first position and the Gulariya Hospital is in the third place with around 90 per cent. The Matri Shishu Miteri Hospital has been successful to be included in the list of best hospitals. Dr Niranjan Panta who takes the responsibility of the chief of hospital for the past three years said the hospital is committed to improving the quality of services with the proper management of required medical equipments to beds to human resources. Though, the hospital was officially allowed to be operated as a 15-bed facility, it had been operating as the 52-bed facility since the previous two years through internal sources. The State (Karnali) government this year officially announced it to upgrade to the 50-bed facility. It services include s pediatric, special maternity care on a regular basis, ambulance, radiology, dental and pathology services, among others. Every year, over 100 people underwent major surgery for hernia and hydrocele. The state government this year allocates Rs 20 million to implement the upgrade plan.    ...

Taylor Swift reveals eating disorder in ‘Miss Americana’

Taylor Swift has opened up about her struggle to overcome an eating disorder in Miss Americana, a new documentary about her life. The documentary premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, during which she said photographs and comments about her appearance had triggered the condition. Swift said, in course of her 2015 world tour, under-eating left her feeling like she was going to pass out at the end of a show, or in the middle of it. The 30-year-old singer, also accepted she is not any way proud of it. She added she struggled with the condition for several years. Some days, she would “starve a little bit and just stop eating”. The rest of the time, she kept lists of everything she ate and exercised constantly until she was a size double-zero (size two in the UK). But she denied having a problem when people confronted her about her weight. The star says she now practises positive thinking when she is tempted to judge her body, consoling herself that it is better to think she looks fat than to look sick. Miss Americana, which comes to Netflix on 31 January, received a standing ovation after its gala screening in Utah on Thursday night.
