National team declared for one-day series under ICC World Cricket League-2

The national team has been announced for the first one-day series under the ICC World Cricket League-2 to be played in the domestic ground. The 14-member team captained by Gyanendra Malla has been announced by the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) for the triangular series taking place among Nepal, Oman and the United States of America. The team was picked among 24 players in the closed training. Dipendra Singh Airee, Paras Khadka, Sandeep Lamichhane, Karan KC, Aarif Sheikh, Binod Bhandari, Abhinash Bohara, Kushal Malla, Kamal Singh Airee, Sushan Bhari, Rohit Poudel, Sharad Veswakar and Lalit Rajbanshi are those members representing the country in the series. Government to conduct sanitation audit at 10 major airports

The government is set to carry out a sanitation audit at 10 main airports of the country as part of the Visit Nepal Year, 2020. The audit will take place on coming February 11, and an agreement in this regard had been reached acting on directions made following a discussion between Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Yogesh Bhattarai and representatives of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) recently. The Ministry will conduct the audit in coordination with concerned agencies. The airports where the audit would take place are Tribhuvan International Airport (both domestic and international), Biratnagar Airport, Chandragadhi Airport, Janakpur Airport, Simara Airport, Bharatpur Airport, Gautam Buddha International Airport, Pokhara International Airport, Nepalgunj Airport and Dhangadhi Airport, according to a statement released by the ministry. As per the agreement, assigned volunteers are tasked with carrying out a field visit at the 10 airports, taking stock of airports’ situation and submitting the report to the ministry within one month (from March 3 to April 1). International media briefed about Sagarmatha Sambad

The government has briefed that representatives of international media about the programme ‘Sagarmatha Sambad’, going to be organised with an objective of holding extensive discussion about the national, regional, international and global-level issues of contemporary and common interests. Sagarmatha Sambad is being held from April 2 to 4 in Kathmandu. A team of senior journalists of India was briefed about the programme, its relevance and participation. The team of Indian senior journalists is on Nepal visit at the invitation of the government with an objective of providing information about the global-level discussion, going to be held for the first time in Nepal, and promotional publicity of Visit Nepal Year-2020. Kathmandu Valley experiencing cold even during sunny days

Although Kathmandu Valley has been witnessing sunny days for the past few days, the Valley dwellers have been experiencing chilling cold. Mainly, the cold is being experienced in the morning and evening. Meteorologist Shanti Kandel said that though no specific weather system has developed, this situation would remain for few days more. Kandel shared that temperature of Kathmandu Valley would not drop to the freezing point and the temperature would increase gradually. Other parts of the country have also been experiencing cold in recent period along with Kathmandu Valley.Thick fog takes place in Tarai area, causing cold during morning and evening hours. Meteorologist Kandel added that fog is taking place in Tarai area at present while skies of some places of east and central parts of the country have remained partly cloudy.
