One killed in road accident

A man has died in a road accident that took place near Deurali in Ratna highway last night. The deceased has been identified as Raj Kumar Chaudhary, the driver of a jeep (Bhe. 1 Cha. 1639) that collided with a passenger bus (Bhe. 1 Kha. 2759). Seriously injured in the accident, Chaudhary died during treatment at the Teaching Hospital in Kohalpur, police inspector at the District Police Office, Banke Pabindra Kumar Bam said. Chief Minister of Gandaki State Prithivi Subba Gurung has expressed sadness over the tractor accident that took place at Bulbule in ward no. 3 of Tamankhola rural municipality. Tremor felt in far-west

An earthquake has been felt in the hilly districts of the Sudur Paschim State this morning. The tremor was felt twice, at 5:15 and 6:46 measuring 3.6 and 5.3 in the Richter scale respectively, according to the Seismological Centre in Surkhet. The epicenter of the first earthquake was Bajhang while the epicenter of the second one was in Uttarakhanda State of neighbouring India. Municipality cuts down tour and dearness allowance

The Byas municipality of Tanahu has decided to decrease the tour and dearness allowance for the people’s representatives. It has also reduced the budget for employees’ salary. The reduction was made in the amended budget tabled for the current fiscal year 2076/77. Deputy Mayor Mira Joshi presented a budget of Rs. 1.44 billion in the 32nd municipal assembly meet that began on Friday. The 31st assembly had passed a budget of Rs. 1.23 billion for the current fiscal year. As per the amended budget estimates, the municipality has decreased the daily tour allowance for people’s representatives by four hundred thousand and dearness allowance for employees by three hundred thousand. Unidentified group attack police post in Melamchi

The Khalde police post came under attack by an unidentified group last night. A group of around 10 to 12 persons came in motorcycles at the post and attacked the police personnel stationed there, according to police inspector Fal Bahadur Tamang at the Area Police Office, Melamchi. In the incident, two police personnel injured. Of them, sub-inspector of police Santosh Kumar Jha has been taken to Kathmandu for treatment while police head constable Hari Bahadur Magar is undergoing treatment at the Melamchi primary health centre.
