Rapti rapids wins CMC Premier League title

Rapti Rapids has been the first champion of the CMC Chitwan Premier League cricket tournament. In the final match held at Campachaur of Narayangadh on Friday, Rapti defeated Sauraha Sands by 8 wickets. Batting first after winning the toss, Sauraha had posted a total of 139 runs in the stipulated 20 overs at the loss of four wickets. In reply, Rapti reached the victory target of 140 runs in 17.4 overs at the loss of two wickets. Captain of Rapti Akash Thapa was adjudged the man of the match for his 74 runs in 57 balls. Rapti won the champion trophy and Rs. 200,000 in cash prize while Sauraha walked home with Rs. 100,000. Hari Bahadur Chauhan was adjudged the man-of-the-series. Chauhan scored 153 runs and took five wickets in the tournament. The tournament was organized by Narayani Advertizing and Events Limited with the support of Chitwan Cricket Association. Tree houses become a new tourism trend in State 1

An unknown corner of a known city, 1-Bigha-area, is now becoming a new travelling hotspot of Dharan. This was after construction of beautifully designed tree houses, which is drawing crowds in greater number by the day. Tree houses in the Subha Gantabya Resort draw around 1000 footfalls a day. The resort is located at a sloppy hill of Dharan-13 Shibhadhara, on the opposite side of the first turn of the serpentine road that connects Dharan and Bhedetar. ”People are thronging our resort because of the tree houses that we built for the first time not only in our city but also in east Nepal”, said Gyandip Limbu, the owner of the resort. According to Limbu, besides Dharan, people from Itahari, Biratnagar and surrounding cities are frequenting these innovative dining spaces. ”Even people from bordering areas of Bihar in India come here on a daily basis”, said Limbu. A-Division League Football: Three Star climbs to third place

Three Star Club has climbed to the third position in the Martyrs Memorial A-Division League Football. It rose up to the third slot in the score table by defeating Sankata Club 1-0 in the first match played at the ANFA Complex football ground at Satdobato today. Sankata is the defending champion of the A-Division League Football. Ananta Tamang was the star player in the Three Star’s victory. He scored in the second half of the game. Next action plan would be differently-abled friendly: Minister Gurung

Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizens, Parbat Gurung today said the ministry would formulate next fiscal year’s action plan targeting people with disabilities. “People with disabilities will be included in the process to prepare the action plan next fiscal year. Physical infrastructures to be constructed will be differently-abled people friendly,” he said addressing an event organised here on the occasion of the 13th establishment day of the National Federation of the Disabled Nepal (NFDN). Similarly on the occasion, the NFDN president Bal Krishna Gaire stressed the need for the governments of all levels, federal, state and local, to unite to address problems of the people with disabilities. Stating that out of the total disabled people, 50 percent are related to physical disabilities, and they are dealing with many problems in rural areas, he asked the local government to focus on it. The NFDN vice president Ram Prasad Dhungana underscored the need for the government to be serious on directing construction of disabled people friendly physical infrastructures. Nepali footballer Sabitra shines in India

A member of the national women football team, Sabitra Bhandari, has given her best performance in India in the ongoing fourth edition of Indian Women Football League there. She has scored 12 goals in four matches and is the highest scorer in the League so far. At home Sabitra plays from the Armed Police Force (APF) Club. This is the second time she is playing in Indian Women Football League. She had gone to India on January 21 to play the League from the Gokulum Club. Last year, she had played in the League from the Sethu FC, which is the defending champion. Sabitra scored 15 goals in the League in its last edition. Twelve teams from all over India are competing in the League.
