NRB directs remittance service providing companies for providing easy service

Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has directed the remittance service providing companies to make arrangements so that the remittance send by the Nepali citizens in abroad employment can be withdrawn easily in the situation of lockdown. The central bank has also directed the remittance service providing companies to open their counter for paying the money remitted by Nepalis on foreign employment to their families. Lockdown has been imposed since Thursday in various places of the country including in Kathmandu Valley following the increased risk of coronavirus pandemic. NRB stated in a press release today that the remittance service provider firms have been urged to make these arrangements in view of the difficulty faced by the families of those Nepalis who are in abroad employment as they cannot easily access the remittances due to the lockdown. It also urged these companies to open their counter and provide the remittance-related financial services throughout the lockdown period by adopting all the health safety process with the presence of minimum number of staff by coordinating with local administration. Prohibitory order issued in Tehrathum

The District Administration Office, Tehrathum, has issued a prohibitory order for a week after nine people tested positive for coronavirus in a single day. Issuing a notice on Thursday, Chief District Officer Bishworaj Neupane imposed the prohibitory order till August 27 implementing from Thursday mid night. According to the District Administration Office, the prohibitory order was issued for a week after coronavirus was confirmed on nine people including government employees and lawyer of Tehrathum in course of contact tracing. Permission has been granted to open shops of food stuffs and vegetable for two hours from 7:00 am after adopting alertness. Movement of people as well as vehicles except essential services has been restricted. The office also warned of taking action against those involved in black marketing, artificial shortage and price hike of daily essential goods in the name of prohibitory order. List of hotels, room charges for quaranting people returned from abroad made public

– Ashok Ghimire. The government has made public the list of hotels and the price in order to quarantine people returning from abroad from chartered flights. The District Administration Office, Kathmandu, released the list and charge of hotels provided by the Department of Tourism. The hotels have the capacity to accommodate 3,500 people. The District Crisis Management Centre (DCMC) decided to enlist the list of hotels where people willing to stay in hotel quarantine as per their own. As per the decision, the Department of Tourism had provided the list of such hotels and room charge to the District Administration Office. Administrative Officer at the DAO, Kathmandu, Rama Ghimire, shared that the list of charge of hotels from star hotels to normal hotels have been made public. Information Officer at the Department, Surendra Thapa, said that the hotels able to follow health-related criteria have been enlisted to use as quarantine. “We have kept hotels accommodating 3,500 people in ready position. Number of hotels will be added gradually”, he said, adding that hotels possible to follow health-related protocol have been enlisted.
