Plasma bank receives Rs 1.1 million donation

Jhapa, The Nepal Red Cross Society, Jhapa chapter has provided financial support of Rs 1.1 million to the Birtamod-based plasma bank. Earlier, the NRS has run a campaign to establish a PCR lab at Kankai Municipality. The campaign had collected Rs 10 million by organizing a charity event. Three persons donated plasma to the bank today itself, said NRS Jhapa President Lokraj Dhakal. Plasma therapy is found effective for the treatment of COVID-19 patients of late. Woman gives birth to five babies at once

Nuwakot, A 28-year-old woman from Nuwakot district gave birth to five babies at once in Thapathali Maternity Hospital on Monday. Hospital’s Director Dr Sangita Kaushal Mishra said that Somika Tamang delivered the babies with a caesarean intervention. Of the five, one was born dead while the health condition of four other baby girls and the new mom is normal. “Condition of mother and babies is good. Oxygen is not supplied to them. Now, the babies are kept in the neo-natal intensive care unit,” Mishra said. Mishra said that birth of five babies at a time is a rare case. The four baby girls weigh 1.8 kgs, 800 grams, 1.9 kgs and 1.6 kgs. Nepal-India border security meeting concludes

Kathmandu, The Nepal-India border security meeting concluded here today. The meeting dwelt on minimizing problems related to peace and security as well as combating cross-border criminal activities during the ongoing second phase election of Rajya Sabha (Council of States) in the Bihar State of India. The meeting agreed to take measures to minimise illegal import of arms and exchange the information to combat them between the authorities of both the countries, said chief district officer of Bara, Rudra Prasad Pandit. The The meeting also agreed to seal off the Indo-Nepal border for three days in view of election in Bihar State. Government of India gifts 41 ambulances and 6 school buses to Nepal

On the occasion of 151st Gandhi Jayanti, H.E. Vinay Mohan Kwatra, Ambassador of India to Nepal paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi by placing flower at his statue situated in the Embassy premises.  The Embassy, continuing the tradition of gifting of ambulances and school buses, handed over forty one ambulances and six school buses to various governmental and non-governmental, not for profit organizations working in the field of health and education. These organizations are spread across 30 districts of Nepal, including remote districts. The Embassy has long-standing tradition of gifting ambulances and school buses to government and not for profit institutions every year to support grassroots medical access. Since 1994, the Embassy of India has gifted nearly 823 ambulances, including those gifted today. For the first time, the Embassy has this year gifted three different categories of ambulances, Advance Life Support category, Basic Life Support and Common Life Support ambulances. All three categories are built as per the guidelines of Government of Nepal. The Advance Life Support category ambulances include equipment such as travelling ventilator, ECG and Oxygen monitor, automated external defibrillator, nebulizer set, BP apparatus, stethoscope, Ambu bag, various tubes and catheters, wheel chair and stretcher, radio communication equipment and 4G mobile device, etc. The Basic Life Support ambulances have all these items, except for travelling ventilator.
