India is the first friendly country for Nepal due to communication, trade, air circulation etc. Therefore, this relationship is deeper not only due to geographical reasons but also due to social reasons. But in spite of this, in the history of Nepal, the relationship between the two was getting stronger after Prithvinarayan Shah left Gorkha and reached Kathmandu in the process of unification. Indian Embassy hands over NR 306 million to reconstruction of earthquake affected schools

Ms. Namgya Khampa, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of India in Nepal met Mr Shushil Gyawali, CEO of National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) today and discussed various Government of India assisted reconstruction projects. She handed over a cheque of NRs 306.6 million towards reconstruction of educational institutions in earthquake affected districts of Nepal. With this cheque handover, India has reimbursed an amount of NRs 819.8 million to Government of Nepal towards educational sector reconstruction projects. Under India’s committed a grant assistance of US $ 50 million towards reconstruction of educational institutions in Nepal, 71 projects have presently been taken up by NRA, including the Central Library building of Tribhuvan University. These projects are located in Gorkha, Nuwakot, Ramechhap, Dolakha, Kavre, Dhading, and Sindhupalchowk districts of Nepal. While 3 schools in Gorkha and 5 in Nuwakot have been completed, construction of 56 schools in five districts is underway and seven schools are in final stage of award of contract.  During the meeting, progress of various Government of India funded reconstruction projects in Housing, Health and Cultural Heritage sector were also discussed. India has committed US $ 150 million towards reconstruction of 50,000 houses in Gorkha and Nuwakot districts, US $ 50 million for reconstruction of 147 hospitals/health posts in 10 districts and another US $ 50 million for restoration/reconstruction of 28 cultural heritage sites in 8 districts of Nepal....

India’s NRs. 44.13 million financial assistance for construction Educational Building

Today, representatives of Embassy of India, Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration and Rural Municipality of Chankheli-Darma of Humla District signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) the construction of lab and library building for Shree Mahadev Higher Secondary School located at Chankheli-Darma. Government of India is extending a grant of NRs 44.13 million for the project under Nepal-Bharat Maitri Development Partnership as part of High Impact Community Development Project scheme programme of Government of India. Established in1976, Shree Mahadev Higher Secondary School is affiliated to National Examinations Board (NEB) & Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) of Nepal. Since 2003, under High Impact Community Development Projects programme, earlier known as Small Development Projects, India has completed 428 projects in the areas of health, education, drinking water, connectivity, sanitation and creation of other public utilities in across all seven provinces of Nepal. Out of these, 14 are in Province-6, including one completed school in Humla District and 4 school construction projects are under various stages of completion. Dipping temperature hits hard normal life in Humla

Humla’s normal life is getting tougher with sharp decline in temperature following snowfall and rain. As Humla is a high-hill district local people here have experienced troubled life after abrupt drop in mercury particularly in the district headquarters Simkot and northern Tamkha rural municipality area. Snowfall has gripped higher hill of the district including Simkot since Sunday afternoon. Cold wave has immoderately increased with snowfall and rain in different parts of the district lately. Locals in Humla are gathering around wood-fire to keep them warm and protect from the cold wave. Simkot’s temperature has dropped to minus following sharp rise in cold wave with variations in weather condition since Sunday. Now Humla has witnessed minus eight degree centigrade. Vehicles operating in and around Simkot have also been disrupted. Domestic road network around Simkot has also been obstructed with the road covered with snow. Humla saw excessive cold wave after snowfall gripped the district up to 1,000 meters from the sea level. After gradual rise in cold wave, the traders and other general public residing in the district headquarters Simkot and its market area are putting them around wood-fire to allay cold effects. Cricketer Lamichhane included in draft of Pakistan Super League

Nepal’s leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane has been included in the Pakistan Super League (PCL) draft. PCL on Tuesday has picked 25 foreign players including Lamichhane for the sixth edition of its tournament to be held this year. All these cricketers have been kept in the platinum class. The players with higher remuneration are included in this category. Minimum remuneration of a player classified in the platinum category ranges from $147,000 (NRS 17.2 million) to $ 218,000 (NRS 25.5 million). Lamichhane along with Rasid Khan, David Villar, Crish Gayle and Lendon Simmones among other world class players are included in the platinum class of PCL draft.
