Builds School in Nawalpur District with Government of India financial assistance of NRs 25.83 million

The new building of Bhimsen Adarsha Higher Secondary School, built with Government of India financial assistance of NRs 25.83 million, under the Nepal-Bharat Maitri Development Cooperation, was jointly inaugurated via video-conferencing today by representatives of the Embassy of India, Kathmandu, District Coordination Committee, School Management Committee and local representatives, including students and faculty of the school. The school located in Devchuli-07 of Nawalpur District was established in 1969 and offers classes till 10+2. Over 55% of the students of the school are girls. Construction of the school building, funded by India and implemented by DCC, Nawalparasi, has three floors and includes 16 classrooms, labs, administration & staff rooms, meeting hall, canteen, medical room and sanitation facilities. The new school building, implemented under the long standing High Impact Community Development Projects, earlier known as Small Development Projects, is another example of robust cooperation between India and Nepal in the education sector. Government aided cooperative shops not in sight

The cooperative shops established in Humla with the grant aid of the government to provide daily consumptive goods to local in a subsidized rates have not come into operation. The government had aided Rs 100,000 each in the then 27 village development committees of the district for the establishment of cooperative shops through the District Agriculture Development Office. In absence of monitoring from the concerned agencies, all 27 government-aided cooperative shops have not existed anymore. With this, the government’s popular programme ‘Cooperatives in every village and food store in every house’ has been in limbo. Locals commented that the government-granted cooperative shops are not in existence in any village and boards were put up in the formative days for mere show-up of shops. Even these boards are not in sight these days. It may be noted that the government headed by Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai had put forth this programme and provided seed money of Rs 100,000 each. Surnaya rural municipality’s padlock lifted after 21 days

A padlock slapped at Surnaya rural municipality of Baitadi following dispute regarding the center has been lifted after 21 days. The rural municipality was padlocked on last July 10 after the dispute. Surnaya’s vice president Leela Bista shared that the padlock was removed following an agreement between the people’s representatives and local struggle committee on Sunday afternoon. “The rural municipality is resuming its day-to-day operation and service delivery from Monday after the removal of padlock slapped since long time ago”, he added. Vice chairperson Bista and acting chair of ward 5 Dhan Bahadur Madai on behalf of people’s representatives and Krishna Bahadur Chand and Prem Luhar among others held a discussion on the issue. Vice chairperson Bista shared that an agreement was made to operate its works from the existing place and finalize the issue of center through an all-side and all-party discussions. It may be noted that the dispute had led to a clash between the two sides on last October 14. In the scuffle, at least 14 people including chairperson, Bir Bahadur Bista sustained injuries. Locals had formed a struggle committee and thereby padlocked the rural municipality’s office to protest its decision to shift the center to Pabita. Chief of Indian Army Naravane to Arrive Nepal on 4th November

General Manoj Mukund Naravane, Chief of the Army Staff, Indian Army will arrive in Nepal on 4th November 2020 for a three-day customary visit at the invitation of General Purna Chandra Thapa, Chief of the Army Staff, Nepali Army.
