One killed in road accident

Baitedi – One person died in a road accident that took place in Baitedi last night. The deceased has been identified as 33-year-old Bir Bahadur Kunwar of Kafalkot in Dogadakedar rural municipality-2, according to chief of Baitedi police DSP Narayan Prasad Adhikari. The accident took place when a Jeep (Ga. 1 Ja. 5192) heading towards Kafalkot from Sillegada fell some 40 meters below the road. The Jeep driver 23-year-old Dipak Chand of Srikot in Dogadakedar-3 was injured in the incident. He is undergoing treatment at District Hospital. Only two people were travelling in the jeep. The reason behind the accident is not yet known. Further investigation into the incident is underway, police said....

Two arrested with narcotics

Two persons have been arrested with opium at Nalgad municipality. The two persons-Mal Bahadur Singh,46, and Kali Bahadur Singh,60, of Aathbiskot municipality-8 were arrested by police along with 12 kilograms of the narcotic drug. They were arrested on Friday from Radibazaar in ward no. 9 of the same municipality, according to the Area police office, Aathbiskot. Both were arrested based on a tip-off received to police. Indian Army Chief Naravane Meets Army Chief Thapa, Equipment for Field Hospitals and Ventilators Gifted (Photo feature)

Chief of Army Staff, Indian Army, General MM Naravane arrived in Kathmandu yesterday for a three-day official visit to Nepal, on the invitation of General Purna Chandra Thapa, Chief of Army Staff, Nepali Army. General MM Naravane was received at the airport by Lieutenant General Prabhu Ram Sharma, CGS Nepali Army and officials of the Indian Embassy. In a solemn ceremony this morning, General MM Naravane laid a wreath and paid homage at Bir Smarak (Martyr’s Memorial) at Army Pavilion in Tundikhel, Kathmandu. He thereafter visited the Nepali Army Headquarters where he was accorded a ceremonial Guard of Honour. This was followed by a meeting with his counterpart General Purna Chandra Thapa, during which both delegations discussed Army-to-Army relations and enhancing bilateral defence cooperation. He was also given a comprehensive briefing by senior officers of the Nepali Army. On behalf of the Government of India, General MM Naravane presented medical equipment for two field hospitals of the Nepali Army. The equipment includes X-Ray machines, computed radiography systems, ICU ventilators, video endoscopy units, anesthesia machines, laboratory equipment and ambulances. Additional ventilators were also gifted to assist Nepali Army in its fight against COVID-19 pandemic. This follows an earlier army-to-army provision of ventilators in July this year....

Indian envoy Kwatra meets Nepal foreign secretary, discusses bilateral cooperation

Indian ambassador here, Vinay Mohan Kwatra, met Nepal foreign secretary Bharat Raj Poudyal on Tuesday and had a conversation on substantively “enriching and progressing” India-Nepal cooperation. “Had a warm meeting with Foreign Secretary Bharat Raj Poudyal Ji. Congratulated him on his appointment and held a positive conversation on substantively enriching and progressing India-Nepal cooperation,” Kwatra tweeted. Paudyal assumed the office of Foreign Secretary in October. Before that, he was Joint Secretary dealing with the multilateral affairs of Nepal in his capacity as the Head of United Nations, International Organisations and International Law Division since 2016. The meeting between the Kwatra and Poudyal comes on the day Army Chief MM Naravane is scheduled to arrive here for his three-day visit. Ahead of his visit, General Naravane said that his visit to Nepal will go a long way in strengthening the “bonds and friendships” that the armies of the two countries cherish. General Naravane would be accorded the rank of honorary General of the Nepali Army by Nepali President Bidhya Devi Bhandari amid a ceremony on Thursday afternoon. India hands over another NPR 1 billion tranche of Nepal Housing Reconstruction Project

Indian Ambassador to Nepal Vinay Mohan Kwatra on Tuesday handed over a cheque of NPR 1 billion to the Nepal government as reimbursement of Nepal Housing Reconstruction Project. Indian Ambassador Kwatra called on Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel at latter’s office and handed over the cheque. India had announced the reconstruction drive in Nuwakot and Gorkha District of Himalayan Nation after it was severely hit by 2015 earthquake.
