PM Oli’s scheduled visit to Taplejung put off

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s scheduled visit to Taplejung district for various programme including inspecting border shared with China’s autonomous region, Tibet, has been put off. Earlier, Chief District Officer of Taplejung Jharendra Prasad Chapagain was informed about the scheduled visit of Prime Minister Oli to Taplejung for November 20 morning. CDO Chapagain shared that the PM secretariat later informed him about the postponement of the PM’s visit to Taplejung. PM Oli was all set to fly for Taplejung to inspect the northern bordering area at Tiptala Bhanjyang and inaugurate the newly-constructed health unit office at Faktanglun rural municipality-6, Lelep on November 20. Federal government to take initiative for setup of cardamom processing centre

Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Yogesh Bhattarai said the federal government would take initiative to enable an environment for processing cardamom at local level. As Taplejung is a high cardamom-yielding district in comparison to other adjoining districts, the establishment of a processing centre at local level would benefit entire district people, he claimed. Minister Bhattarai who is on his visit to different rural municipalities of home district Taplejung pledged that the federal government would pay special attention for the setup of the centre since the processed cardamom has a good scope for both marketing and employment generation. Cardamom farming has been done in all other areas apart from Olangchungola but the farmers have been hit hard for not getting appropriate price. Minister Bhattarai also pledged to complete the blacktopping of roads linking all local levels of the district for convenient transport in rural areas within two years. In lack of accessible road connectivity, marketization of local productions has faced a hiccup in the district which is directly associated to the lives and livelihoods of the local people. Manhunkot goes viral, 10,000 visitors arrive in a day

The Manhunkot located on the western top of Damauli bazaar has been drawing huge crowd, after breathtaking photos of the area went viral in the social media. Located at ward no.5 of the Byas municipality, domestic tourists are flocking in huge numbers every day to witness the natural beauty of the place. The place had been receiving around 1,000 tourists every day, but Saturday saw more than 10,000 arrive to witness the newest popular tourist destination in the area. It was like a big fair organized during the festival period with the highest number of visitors to date, said ward chairperson Mohan Kumar Shrestha. Until last year, two to three hundred tourists would arrive during the tourist season, but this year it has been unprecedented. There is now a traffic jam for hours in the road leading to Manhunkot. The place is six kilometers away from Chapaghat. Meanwhile, the increasing number of people gathering at the place is drawing concerns over the risk of Corona Virus spreading in the area. Majority of the people arriving here are from neighbouring districts including Kaski, Syangja, Lamjung, Gorkha and Chitwan. National Innovation Centre receives aid

The Youth Sensitization Campaign has provided financial assistance to the National Innovation Centre. The Centre led by Mahabir Pun received Rs. 10,200 collected from a nationwide fund raising initiative organized by the campaign. More than 340 members in the country contributed Rs. 30 each to collect the amount for the Centre, said the campaign lead Chintan Poudel. We will continue raising funds to help meet the social development activities of the Innovation Centre.
