Rugby to be promoted professionally

Kathmandu – A 12-member Nepal School Rugby Commission has been formed with the objective of professionally developing the sport of Rugby in Nepal, and producing Rugby players for it. The Commission chaired by JB Adhikari includes Mukunda Kumar Dhungana as Vice-chair, Shiva Prasad Aryal as Secretary and Hema Gurung as Treasurer. The Commission was formed by the first general assembly organised here Saturday by an ad hoc committee formed three months ago. At the programme, former Minister Hit Bahadur Tamang stressed that the game of Rugby needs to be publicized in all the seven provinces, and to organize all the Rugby players in the country....

Bhimdattanagar remains tense over murder of teen girl

Kanchanpur– Bhimdattanagar, the district headquarters of Kanchanpur, remained tense today, too, as locals continue to stage a demonstration, demanding the arrest of ‘real’ perpetrator (s) in the rape and murder of a local 13-year-old girl. Nirmala Panta of Kholti of Bhimdatta municipality-2 was murdered after rape a few weeks ago. Her body was recovered on July 27 from a sugarcane field. The police here on Monday arrested a person with mental illness on the charge of his involvement in the crime. The locals have accused the police of arresting an innocent person with an intention of protecting ‘real’ criminal. They held demonstrations Monday also. The locals today gathered in front of the District Administration Office, Kanchanpur, protesting against the police move and clamouring for justice to the victim family by bringing perpetrator (s) to book. The demonstrators and police engaged in a brief clash. Police resorted to the release of two rounds of tear gas shell to disperse the crowd. According to District Police Office, Kanchanpur’s Deputy Superintendent of Police, Gyan Bahadur Sety, two demonstrators have been taken under control. The Bhimdatta folks have been demonstrating since the incident, demanding the arrest of guilty....

PM lays foundation stone of Ayurvedic hospital in Jhapa

Damak– Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli today laid a foundation stone of an Ayurvedic Hospital at Kamal rural municipality-7 in Jhapa. The facility going to be constructed by the Department of Urban Development and Building Construction under the Ministry of Urban Development will have 50 beds. It is said to have an emergency ward, an OPD, a surgery section, an Intensive Care Unit (ICU), a pharmacy and pathology services. Earlier, nine people collectively donated two bigha of land for the construction of a building. A bigha is equal to about 6,773 square meters. The Department’s division office plans to complete construction works by the next 22 months and it is estimated to coast Rs 172 million to build a two and half storey structure, as said by project supervision committee coordinator Mani Kumar...

Leader Koirala said the NC would not be strong until groupsim exists in the party. Office assistant murdered

Baitadi– An office assistant working at Marma health post in Darchula was murdered on Tuesday. Angabir Singh Thagunna, 46, hailing from Marma rural municipality-1, Gholjar was murdered, shared Police Inspector Hikmat Bohora at District Police Office, Darchula. Thagunna was murdered at his home. A police team has recently reached the incident site. The robbers had taken away Rs 1 million from Thagunna, shared Dinesh Singh, a local. He had sustained deep injuries on his head. He was murdered while he was asleep at own house. Thagunna’s wife and son are living in Terai zone. Police primarily suspected that the murder case seemed to have occurred to loot Rs 1 million from Thagunna....
