Delayed registration results in no chance for two players to attend Asian Games

Kathmandu –  Two Nepali athletics players reached Indonesia to participate in the ongoing 2018 Jakarta Palembang Asian Games have been deprived of joining the competition due to delayed registrations. Nepali sports office bearers failed to notice that whether the registrations of names of those players selected for the regional competition were made on time. Bishwa Rupa Budha could not take part in the women’s 10,000 meters race while Somlal Kumal was barred from joining the men’s 400 meters held last Saturday. Stranded Nepali workers to be taken back to work

Khotang  –  Thirty-eight Nepali migrant workers including 13 from Khotang, who had been stranded in Saudi Arabia, will be taken back to work. An agreement has been reached for the same between the foreign employment agency and the relatives of the workers in Kathmandu, after the issue came to light in the media through the National News Agency or RSS. As per the agreement, the workers will be getting salary and other facilities as promised in the earlier contract with release of due payment, while those willing to return home will be provided air tickets from the company. The Employment Services and Empower Services in Mitrapark, Kathmandu are accountable to enforcing the agreement in Saudi Arabia. However, the concerned workers are still not happy with the agreement, according to Buna Biswakarma of the Safe Migration Information Centre in Diktel. The Embassy needs to assure us before we resume work, as we had fulfilled all due process to arrive here, Sheshan Shrestha of Jalapa in Khotang said over telephone from Saudi Arabia. Body of child drowned in Kamala river found

Lahan – Body of one of the three children who were feared drowned in the Kamala river has been found this morning. Two are still missing. Manjaya Mahara,15, Rahul Mahara,14 of Golbazaar municipality-4 and Krishna Mahato,14, of Aurahi rural municipality had gone to the Kamala river in Utrayani yesterday evening to collect water to be offer in the Shiva temple in Gol bazaar. However, they did not return and were feared drowned in the river. Father beaten to death by son

Lahan – A father has been beaten to death by his son, following a domestic dispute. Umesh Sadaya,45, a resident of Manarwa in ward no.18 of Lahan Municipality died after being beaten by his 25-year-old son Sanjaya on Saturday evening. Umesh was seriously injured in the incident and died in course of treatment at the Neuro hospital in Biratnagar, according to police. Drivers’ carelessness behind 90% road accidents

Kathmandu – Most of the road accidents have occurred due to drivers’ carelessness in the Kathmandu Valley. According to the information shared by the Metropolitan Traffic Police Division, in more than 90 percent road accidents, drivers’ carelessness was blamed. In the last fiscal year (2074/75), the Division recorded a total of 6,381 accidents. Among these, drivers were culpable for 5,961 accidents. Similarly, the factor behind 71 accidents was high speed and mechanical hitches caused 221, overtake 29, pedestrians’ recklessness three, and road condition 48. A total of 219 persons were injured seriously in the incident while 4,333 got minor injuries. Division Chief and SSP Basanta Kumar Pant said drivers were not abiding by traffic rule and driving carelessly resulting in the road accidents. He however admitted, “Narrow roads were also responsible for it.” Among 1.1 million vehicles registered in the Bagmati Zone, nearly 800 thousand vehicles are operated in the Kathmandu Valley. Last year alone, 194 persons had lost lives in the accident. Two wheelers are the most susceptible to accident.
