Groupism has divided leaders and cadres: Koirala

Nepalgunj– General Secretary of the Nepali Congress Dr Shashank Koirala has said that groupism taking place in the party has divided leaders and cadres. Leader Koirala said the NC would not be strong until groupsim exists in the party. At a press meet organised by Nepal Press Union, Banke, here today, he said the NC would be very weak if there was no unity among all organisations of the party. Responding a query, the NC General Secretary said, “Time has not come to evaluate the activities of the incumbent government. But, the government has become failure to show right path to the country.” Meanwhile, addressing the cadres gathering at Nepalgunj today, he said it was the responsibility of the leadership to take the party head by bringing all at the same place. Office assistant murdered

Baitadi– An office assistant working at Marma health post in Darchula was murdered on Tuesday. Angabir Singh Thagunna, 46, hailing from Marma rural municipality-1, Gholjar was murdered, shared Police Inspector Hikmat Bohora at District Police Office, Darchula. Thagunna was murdered at his home. A police team has recently reached the incident site. The robbers had taken away Rs 1 million from Thagunna, shared Dinesh Singh, a local. He had sustained deep injuries on his head. He was murdered while he was asleep at own house. Thagunna’s wife and son are living in Terai zone. Bridge over Bheri almost in final stage of construction

Birendranagar– The construction of a bridge over the Bheri River in Surkhet, the capital of the Karnali Province, has come to a final stage. Almost 90 percent of the construction of the bridge linking Jamu of Panchapuri municipality and Takhakuna has complete. The contract for the construction was awarded to Lumbini Himdung JB Construction. The bridge has the length of 350 metres. Though the timeline served for the construction was five years according to the agreement the bridge will be ready for operation even earlier, shared engineer of construction company Dinesh Kumar Shrestha. “We will complete the construction of bridge on time”, he said, adding that the enthusiastic support and participation from locals, political parties and employees contributed much to speed up the construction. The final construction of the bridge is likely to be carried out within 16 September, he shared. It may be noted that the Bheri River had seen massive flooding in 2014 which also had swept away a suspension bridge in Panchapuri municipality-10. The flooding had rendered 93 families displaced. Since then, boats have been used to cross the river, putting lives at risk....

Chepangs of Dhading without land certificate, deprived of housing grant

Dhading – Chepang communities residing at Parlak, Bhainse, and Bangkurti of Benighat Rorang rural municipality-2 in Dhading have been disappointed as they were deprived of housing grant announced by the government for earthquake survivors. Despite having their names in the list of beneficiaries of National Reconstruction Authority (NRA), the government body formed to carry out post-quake reconstruction works, they have become ineligible to make the house reconstruction agreement. The Chepang people here had been rendered homeless as other villagers as the 2015 April quake ravaged the entire settlement. Though a technical team from the NRA had already been here to conduct a survey of the affected settlement before recommending survivors for the grant, the Chepangs do not have land registration certificates and under this condition, they are disqualified to make an agreement with the NRA to rebuild house as well as draw the announced monetary assistance. complained one Purna Bahadur Chepang. “Though our names have been in the list of beneficiaries and the NRA team had already made a housing grant agreement with us, the further process has got stalled as we do not own the legal land ownership certificates,” he said.
