NA’s Heath Institute provides scholarship of Rs 62.4 million

Kathmandu – Nepal Army Institute of Health Sciences provided the scholarship of Rs 62.4 million in a year alone. The Army Welfare Fund has informed that the Institute provided full scholarship to the students of 96 non-military families in the last fiscal year. Director at the Fund, Brigadier General Raghu Bhandari, shared the information that students belonged to various streams as medical study, nursing and medical poly technique. There are altogether 8,338 students in various streams in the army institutes run by the Fund. Among these, 2,887 are the students from the non-military families. Meanwhile, Nepal Army has also provided free education to Sonish Awal of Bhaktapur Muldhoka, who was rescued live after 22 hours of the Gorkha earthquake. Lalbakaiya boat capsize – two bodies found

Gaur –  Two dead bodies were fished out from the Lalbakaiya River in which a boat carrying over 25 people capsized on Saturday evening. According to the police, bodies of two women– Runa Kurmi Patel of Ishanath municipality-3 and Shanti Devi Saha of Gaur municipality-4 — were recovered today. Three people remain missing. The missing ones are Om Prakash Chandrabanshi, Indudevi Patel and Usma Patel, Superintendent of Police Kedar Dhakal said. Among them, Om Prakash was an assistant sailor. The boat capsized at Tikuliyaghat of Gaur municipality-4 after hitting a pillar erected in course of the construction of a bridge over the Lal Bakaiya River as it was en route to Gaur from Aurhiya of Ishanath municipality. Rugby to be promoted professionally

Kathmandu – A 12-member Nepal School Rugby Commission has been formed with the objective of professionally developing the sport of Rugby in Nepal, and producing Rugby players for it. The Commission chaired by JB Adhikari includes Mukunda Kumar Dhungana as Vice-chair, Shiva Prasad Aryal as Secretary and Hema Gurung as Treasurer. The Commission was formed by the first general assembly organised here Saturday by an ad hoc committee formed three months ago. Bhimdattanagar remains tense over murder of teen girl

Kanchanpur– Bhimdattanagar, the district headquarters of Kanchanpur, remained tense today, too, as locals continue to stage a demonstration, demanding the arrest of ‘real’ perpetrator (s) in the rape and murder of a local 13-year-old girl. Nirmala Panta of Kholti of Bhimdatta municipality-2 was murdered after rape a few weeks ago. Her body was recovered on July 27 from a sugarcane field. The police here on Monday arrested a person with mental illness on the charge of his involvement in the crime. The locals have accused the police of arresting an innocent person with an intention of protecting ‘real’ criminal. They held demonstrations Monday also. The locals today gathered in front of the District Administration Office, Kanchanpur, protesting against the police move and clamouring for justice to the victim family by bringing perpetrator (s) to book. The demonstrators and police engaged in a brief clash. Police resorted to the release of two rounds of tear gas shell to disperse the crowd. PM lays foundation stone of Ayurvedic hospital in Jhapa

Damak– Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli today laid a foundation stone of an Ayurvedic Hospital at Kamal rural municipality-7 in Jhapa. The facility going to be constructed by the Department of Urban Development and Building Construction under the Ministry of Urban Development will have 50 beds. It is said to have an emergency ward, an OPD, a surgery section, an Intensive Care Unit (ICU), a pharmacy and pathology services. Earlier, nine people collectively donated two bigha of land for the construction of a building. A bigha is equal to about 6,773 square meters. The Department’s division office plans to complete construction works by the next 22 months and it is estimated to coast Rs 172 million to build a two and half storey structure, as said by project supervision committee coordinator Mani Kumar...
