PM Oli holds talks with Canadian counterpart, agreement signed

New York – Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and his Canadian counterpart Justin Trudeau have signed an agreement on establishing a bilateral consultation mechanism between Nepal and Canada. The agreement was signed on Tuesday at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, USA. The signing of the MoU has now paved the way for holding consultation on the various facets of bilateral relations between the two countries. The two Prime Ministers held discussions prior to signing the MoU. On the occasion, PM Oli expressed his happiness on the high level meeting since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Nepal and Canada in 1965. He thanked the government and the people of Canada for the assistance provided so far to Nepal and the Nepali people as well as the support given after the April 25 earthquake. The Canadian Prime Minister expressed his pleasure to have bilateral meeting at the Prime Minister’s level and to deepen, through this meeting, the bilateral ties between the two countries. Both the Prime Ministers have arrived here in connection with participating in the 73rd United Nations General Assembly. Foreign Affairs Minister Gyawali and his Indian counterpart hold talks

New York – Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Kumar Gyawali held a meeting with Minister of External Affairs of India, Sushma Swaraj, at the UN headquarters here today. Discussions were held on matters of bilateral concern and interest during the meeting. Sixteen hurt in accident

Kawasoti – At least 16 passengers were injured when the bus they were travelling in collided with a truck on the East-West Highway at Gaindakot Municipality-16 in Nawalparasi today. The condition of two of the injured passengers is critical, the District Police Office has stated. They are 21-year-old Pabitra Kunwar of Sunawal Municipality-4 and 35-year-old Padam Bahadur Kunwar of Alebhanjyang of Palpa. Among the injured, eight have already returned home after general treatment while the remaining are receiving medical attention at the Chitwan Medical College, Bharatpur. HAN offering 20 per cent discount on food to tourists

Kathmandu – Hotel Association of Nepal (HAN) has announced 20 per cent discount to tourists at its member hotels on the occasion of the World Tourism Day. HAN general secretary Binayak Shah said the discount has been provided to make the stay of foreign visitors in Nepal pleasant and to promote tourism in the context of the World Tourism Day. According to him, the discount will be offered on food, especially the Nepali indigenous dishes. Shah said the discount applies only to food as the tourists have already booked the hotel rooms. The discount coupons would be issued to foreign tourists from the HAN’s counter at Tribhuvan International Airport. Tourists arriving Nepal from the first to the last flight would be served the discount coupon on September 27 which happens to be the World Tourism Day. HAN has stated that these coupons would be valid for September 28 and 29 also and the discount offer would be available in HAN member hotels throughout the country. There are around 2,000 hotels across the country, which are the members of HAN. Meantime, arrangements have been made for providing discount in various tourism services in Thamel, the tourist hub in Kathmandu, coinciding with the World Tourism Day.
