Leopard found dead in Mahottari

Mahottari –  A leopard was found dead at Gaushala of Mahottari district this afternoon. A local Chandeshwor Singh Kushbaha said that the rotten body of the leopard was found in a farm of Sukre Kami at old Kantibazaar of Gaushala municipality-12. Locals donate 50 ropani of land

Hilihang, (Paachthar) – Locals in Phidim of Paanchthar district have donated a total of 50 ropani of land for the construction of stadium free of cost. A total of 10 locals donated such area of land for the same. The stadium would be built at Sarseula of Phidim Municipality-5 in the district. The donors contributed the land worth more than five million rupees to Phidim municipality, according to the municipality. Normally, around 9-19 hectare of land is required for the construction of standard stadium. Ramchandra Nepal granted 19 ropani and 9 aana of land while Birendra Kumar Lawati three ropani and nine aana. Similarly, Tularam Tamang donated three ropani and eight aana, Sitadevi Nepal two ropani and eight aana, Rohit Prasad Luitel two ropani and Kamala Nepal eight aana of land. Phidim Municipality is being developed to be a model city and it lacked a standard stadium in lack of resources. Disaster Response Exercise and Exchange kicks off

Kathmandu – The Disaster Response Exercise and Exchange (DREE) aims at strengthening coordination among multinational armies in the humanitarian assistance, rescue and assistance mobilization in the aftermath a major earthquake kicked off here today. The Nepal Pacific Resilience DREE is an annual civil-military disaster preparedness and response initiative between the Nepali Army and the US Army Pacific ( USARPAC) and this year’s exercise will focus on exercise and evaluation of civil military coordination mechanism; a mass casually simulation; search and rescue exercise; camp coordination and Tribhuvan International Airport disaster response plan during a mega scale earthquake in Nepal, using a scenario developed by the National Society for Earthquake Technology – Nepal. It is jointly organized by the NA and USARPAC. Representatives from military and disaster preparedness and response initiative of 14 countries including Nepal are taking part in the four-day event. Armies from Nepal, the US, Sri-Lanka, Maldives, Bangladesh, Singapore, Canada, Philippines, Britain, Denmark, Belgium, Israel, India and China are attending it. According to the NA Disaster Management Directorate’s director Jeet Bahadur Gurung, earlier this type of exercise was held in 2011, 2013 and 2016 in Kathmandu. India to co-host meeting with US over drug menace

New York [USA] – On the sidelines of the 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, India will co-host a meeting on Monday with the United States and other selected countries over the issue of how to combat the drug menace. External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and United States President Donald Trump will be a part of the meeting. Today will be a jam-packed day for Swaraj as she will be holding back-to-back bilateral meetings, starting from meeting with Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Bourita and European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs Federica Mogherini. Ticket booking opens in advance for Dashain holidays

Kathmandu – Bus ticket booking has opened from today in advance for the convenience of passengers going home for the Dashain holidays. Although a joint meeting of the Department of Transport Management and the transport entrepreneurs had on September 16 decided to open the ticket booking from September 21, the transport entrepreneurs had refused to start the ticket booking in advance citing hike in the price of petroleum products. A meeting of the Federation of Nepalese National Transport Entrepreneurs on Monday decided to open the advance ticket bookings saying the government has agreed to increase the transport fare by 10 per cent. Federation general secretary Punya Prasad (Saroj) Sitaula said they have decided to open the ticket bookings in advance from Tuesday following the adjustment in the price of transport fare following the hike in the petroleum product prices.  ...
