India Builds Shree Schoolchaun Higher Secondary School in Jhapa

Honourable Attorney General of Nepal Mr. Agni Prasad Kharel and Ambassador of India to Nepal H.E. Shri Manjeev Singh Puri jointly inaugurated the School Building of Shree Schoolchaun Higher Secondary School at Gauradaha Municipality Ward No. 05 in Jhapa District on 2nd September 2019. Mr. Hikmat Kumar Karki, Minister of Internal Affairs & Law of Province No. 1, Leader Dipak Karki, and Mr. Somnath Portel, Chairman of District Coordination Committee, Jhapa were also present during the inauguration along with political and official representatives of Government of Nepal, State Government of Province No. 1, community leaders and a large number of friends of the India-Nepal partnership. Established in 1965 as a Primary School and subsequently upgraded to Higher Secondary level in 2008, Shree Schoolchaun Higher Secondary School is affiliated with National Examination Board (NEB) and offers plus two  (10+2) programs. The school has about 1150 students of which 60% are girls. Shree Schoolchaun Higher Secondary School is an educational institution of repute in Jhapa District of Nepal. The new infrastructure constructed with Government of India’s grant of NRs. 35.70 million, is a two story school building comprising 25 class rooms, including one room for laboratory, one room for principal, one room for library, one room for staff, one room for accounts section, multipurpose-hall, separate toilets for boys and girls on each floor, compound wall and furniture. Eric Valli recognized as Visit Nepal 2020 Tourism Goodwill Ambassador

Kathmandu – The Visit Nepal 2020 Secretariat has recognized renowned French photographer and film director Eric Valli as a Tourism Goodwill Ambassador for the Visit Nepal Year 2020 campaign. To mark the occasion the VNY 2020 Secretariat hosted a talk program by Eric Valli prior to presenting him with the honour. Eric Valli has a long and strong association with Nepal and captured some of the most remote and inaccessible areas on film putting Nepal on the global map. Among his outstanding works is the capturing the salt caravan in Dolpo region, Eric Valli pays homage to the extraordinary culture of the region shooting for months at 15,000 feet. He has made lasting friendships with the Dolpo people and made a film called the Himalaya Caravan that was a 1999 Oscar nominee for the best foreign film. Eric Valli was born in 1952 in Dijon, eastern France. He originally trained as a cabinet-maker, but has spent most of his career working on the relationship between man and nature. Since 1981 Eric has captured on camera some of the most inaccessible locations in the world, working for titles such as National Geographic, Life, GEO, Paris Match, Stern and Smithsonian magazines, and The Sunday Times of London. Indian Embassy celebrated day of Yoga in the lap of Mt. Everest (Photos)

Kathmandu – Embassy of India, Kathmandu organized a Yoga Event at  Nepal’s Namche Bazaar-gateway of Mount Everest, the highest peak in the world. For the first time, Yoga was celebrated at the Base Camp of Mount Everest also, 17600 feet above the sea level.  Mr. Bharat Sharma from Gujarat, India along with other mountaineers created history by practicing yoga at the base of the world’s highest peak. Members from various women and youth groups of Solukhumbu district, officers of Sagarmatha National Park, employees of Everest View Hotel and a large number of local people enthusiastically participated in the event along with Ambassador of India to Nepal Manjeev Singh Puri and Embassy officers.
