Embassy of India Celebrates Vishwa Hindi Diwas

Embassy of India, Kathmandu in association withCentral Hindi Department,Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu celebrated Vishwa Hindi Diwas at Hotel Yak and Yeti on 10th January, 2020. Hon’ble Minister for Federal Affairs and General Administration, Government of Nepal Mr. HridayeshTripathi graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Charge d’Affaires Dr. Ajay Kumar read the message of Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, ShriNarendraModion this occasion. On this occasion, the special issue of research journal ‘Sahityalok’ of Central Hindi Department, Tribhuvan University was released. In addition, Two Hindi books and two Nepali books (all published under the support of B. P. Koirala India-Nepal Foundation, Embassy of India, Kathmandu, Nepal) were also released during the event.These books include Nepali translations of 5 famous stories of world famous Hindi story writer Premchand translated by the students of Hindi Department of Tribhuwan University and one famous book of Swami Vivekananda ‘Karmayog’ translated in Nepali. While in Hindi translations, 2 books were released namely “Ashwathama”, a poetic play written originally in Nepali by Poet Laureate (RashtraKavi) of Nepal Mr. Madhav Prasad Ghimire and “UtkrishtaKahaniyan”, a collection of 25 modern Nepali stories written by young and upcoming Nepali story writers and selected by 12Khari Media through an all Nepal story writing competition. Consensus will be reached on TRC formation: Information Minister Banskota

Efforts are ongoing to strike a consensus with main opposition parties on the formation of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. Government’s efforts were underway to establish long-lasting peace by providing justice in serious cases of the Maoist decade-long insurgency, said Minister for Communications and Information Technology Gokul Prasad Banskota at a regular press meet organised in Singha Durbar to provide information of Cabinet decisions on January 5. “We have a responsibility to take the country to permanent peace and hand over its ownership to the next generation. The commission has incorporated issues of whether perpetrators of serious crimes are given pardon or not,” he said. Rock Garden in Lamjung beckoning visitors

– Janak Shrestha The Khanigaon Rock Garden at Ghermu, Marsyangdi rural municipality in the northern belt of Lamjung district is a hit with visitors. The number of visitors coming to observe the Rock Garden has been steadily going up. The locals of Ghermu had promoted the concept of Rock Garden for the first time in the country and developed the physical infrastructures for the same in view of the Visit Nepal Year 2020 campaign announced by the government. Visit Year campaign aims to bring in 2 million tourists in 2020 and it was formally inaugurated on January 1. The Rock Garden is a unique experience for the tourists interested in observing the natural beauty amidst rustic experience. Rock Garden is located inside a rocky landscape. It is dotted with caves and lairs and tunnels. The visitors can even spend a night out inside the cave. It takes more than half an hour to see around the place. Minister Bhattarai requests to send 100,000 tourists from Australia

-Narayan Adhikari Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Yogesh Bhattarai urged Nepali authorities to send at least 100,000 Australian tourists to Nepal during the Visit Year 2020. Minister Bhattarai said this at a programme ‘opportunity and challenge of Visit Nepal Year-2020’ jointly organized by the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) Australia and the Office of Nepali Consulate in Victoria on Wednesday evening. He urged all Nepali Diaspora community to impart message about tourism importance of Nepal. Noting that the government was working to initiate direct flight service between Nepal and Australia, he said this would believably help increase inflow of Australian tourists to Nepal. The Nepal government was aggrieved of the incident of bushfire in Australia, Minister Bhattarai said, urging Nepali community to cooperate to the Australian people in such grief-stricken moment. Weather forecast: Rainfall throughout country, snowfall in high-hilly and mountainous areas

Light rainfall has been forecast across the country including in Kathmandu Valley as well as moderate to heavy snowfall in high-hilly and mountainous areas today due to influence of westerly low pressure system, according to the Meteorological Forecasting Division. Meteorologist Manju Basi said that light rainfall is taking place throughout the country and snowfall in high-hilly and mountainous areas due to the influence of westerly wind that entered the country on Monday evening. Basi said, “The effect of westerly wind will remain till Friday.” The Division has alerted the people to take precaution against cold as there is possibility of light to moderate rainfall at some places of the nation and moderate to heavy snowfall at most of the places of high-hilly and mountainous areas tonight. According to the Division, eastern hilly areas of the country would remain partial cloudy while weather would be clear in other remaining places on Friday.
