Ramthumki wins Nawacup football title

The Ramthumki youth club has won the second ‘Nawacup seven-a-side football’ tournament. The local club of Byas municipality-11 defeated Ananta Youth club of ward no. 11 by 2-0 in the final match held on Saturday to win the title. Foreign recruits Domy Domy and Max scored the two goals for the winning team. Along with the win, the Ramthumki club pocketed a cash prize of Rs. 115,555 and the trophy. Pashupati area cleaned on the eve of Mahashivaratri

The 353rd week of the Bagmati Cleaning Mega Campaign saw the cleaning of the Aryaghat, Suryaghat, Ram Mandir and other areas of the Pashupati temple premises. The sanitation event was held in preparation for the upcoming Mahashivaratri festival. More than 300 people from 18 different organisations took part in the cleaning action that took place on Saturday, according to member of the Bagmati Civilization Integrated Development Committee. Executive Director of the Pashupati Area Development Trust Dr Ghanashyam Khatiwada also took part in the event. The PADT and other organisations had already been working to clean up the Pashupati area since the past week to welcome the great festival of the Hindhus, the Mahashivaratri. The cleaning action above the Guheswari is also focused to making the water in the Bagmati river clean. Meanwhile, a special function was marked to observe the sixth year of the cleaning of the Rudramati river. 175 Nepalis airlifted from Hubei

One hundred and seventy-five Nepali nationals from six different cities across Hubei Province of the People’s Republic of China were airlifted from Wuhan this morning by a charter flight of Nepal Airlines. Of the 175 nationals, 170 are students, one employee, two visitors, and two children. The flight that departed for Nepal at 00:52 am Wuhan local time landed at Tribhuvan International Airport at 03:22 am local time. The Embassy of Nepal in Beijing had arranged six separate vehicles to bring the Nepali nationals from different cities of Hubei Province to the airport. The numbers of Nepali nationals from the six cities who boarded the flight include 55 from Wuhan, 25 from Enshi, 29 from Shiyan, eight from Yichang, nine from Jingmen, and 48 from Jingzhou, according to a statement released by the Embassy earlier today. Of them, 134 are male and 41 are female. Out of the 185 applicants, four later decided to stay back in China while six could not board the plane due to medical reasons. Necessary procedures including temperature checks were completed before boarding the plane. The returnees will be kept in quarantine for at least 14 days in Kharipati, Bhaktapur before they go to their respective homes. Mercury on rising trend

Kathmandu, Feb 15: Temperature across the country including in the Kathmandu Valley is on the rise for the past few days. According to meteorologist Min Kumar Aryal, if no freak weather system developed, the temperature will continue to increase as winter is gradually on the course of departure. In this period, temperature in mornings and evenings will remain relatively cool than in daytime. In other parts of the country including in the Kathmandu Valley, days are becoming hotter. Today, there is partly to generally cloudy in the hilly regions and mainly fair in the rest of the country. According to a weather bulletin issued by the Division, the Kathmandu Valley’s minimum temperature for today was 6.0 degrees Celsius while the maximum temperature was 21.8 degrees Celsius. Similarly, Dipayal’s minimum temperature was 9.8 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature was 29.1 degrees Celsius while Dhangadhi recorded 10.0 degrees Celsius minimum temperature and 20.0 degrees Celsius maximum temperature. Ambassador of Pakistan Scholarship distributed to 500 students

Kathmandu, Feb 15: Chairman of National Assembly Ganesh Prasad Timilsina gave away ‘Ambassador of Pakistan Scholarships’ to 500 Nepali students. The scholarships amounting to NRs. 10,000 each were awarded by the Pakistan Embassy at the 8th Annual Ambassador of Pakistan Scholarship programme. Besides scholarships Samir KC from Pashupati Secondary School, Parbat was awarded the 2020 Best Student of the School Gold Medal. The ceremony was organised at Hyatt Regency, Kathmandu today. Speaking at the occasion, Chairman Timilsina appreciated the efforts by Pakistan Embassy to create people-to-people linkages between the two countries especially in the field of education. This, he said, was a reflection of the friendly ties between Pakistan and Nepal. Pakistan Ambassador Mazhar Javed expressed his resolve and desire to further expand the scholarship programme.
