DPM Pokharel to inspect Kalapani area

Darchula, Feb 16: Deputy Prime Minister Ishwar Pokhrel is scheduled to inspect Kalapani area in Darchula district, a disputed area between Nepal and India, today. He is slated to reach Darchula district in a Nepal Army’s helicopter, and head to Kalapani area after attending an inaugural of a festival to be organised here by the Darchula Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said the Darchula CCI president Mangal Singh Thagunna. He is also scheduled to inspect the Nepali Army barrack in the district. Home Ministry has directed the district police office through the district administration office and the police headquarters to mange security for DPM Pokharel’s visit, it has been said. DPM Pokharel is accompanied during the visit by a 10-member team including joint secretary at the Ministry of Defence and high ranking officials of the Nepal Army. This is the maiden visit to Darchula by Minister Pokhrel after he assumed the post of Deputy Prime Minister. Prior to this, he had been here in 2053 BS in his respective capacity as the then CPN (UML)’s central member. PM Oli inaugurates bridge, road

Bhadrapur, Feb 16 : Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has inaugurated a bridge linking Mathumalla of Morang to Damak, Jhapa. Even a roadway stretching from local Krishna Mandir to Beldagi in the district was opened by the PM. PM Oli had arrived here this morning to open the roadway and bridge. The road stretching 6.21-km was constructed by Shree Rotaha AK JV at the cost of Rs 41 million. Similarly, the bridge was constructed by Sharma Lama Swachchhandra JV at the cost of Rs 302 million. EIB to provide Rs 12.4 billion grant to Nepal

Kathmandu, Feb 16: The European Investment Bank (EIB) will provide Rs 12.4 billion grant to the Government of Nepal for its electricity system upgradation project. In this regard, chief of the International Economic Cooperation Coordination Division, the Ministry of Finance, Shree Krishna Nepal, Maria Baragon, director of the Department in the EIB, Maria Shaw-Barragan and legal counsel at the EIB, Borja Oxangoiti jointly signed a loan agreement amid an event recently. Nepal-Bangladesh Foreign Minister level dialogue to discuss energy, connectivity

Kathmandu, Feb 16: Nepal and Bangladesh are holding ministerial level dialogues focusing connectivity, energy and trade promotion. The Foreign Ministry has put in agenda the issues as energy, trade promotion, transit, connectivity, tourism, investment, regional and multilateral cooperation. Minister Banskota asks teachers not to visit leaders for promotion, transfer

Kavrepalanchowk, Feb 16: Minister for Communications and Information Technology Gokul Prasad Banskota has urged the schoolteachers not to knock at the doors of politicians and people’s representatives for getting promotion and transferred at their convenient schools. Minister Banskota said so while addressing a programme organised on the occasion of 38th anniversary of Prabhat Basic School and inauguration of a six-room newly constructed building at Banepa Municipality-3 on Sunday. He said, “Now time for adjustment of teachers has come. So, do not request leaders and people’s representatives for transfer and promotion. Teachers should be there where the students are.” The Communications Minister also asked the people’s representatives of the local levels not to heed any interest in transfer and promotion of the schoolteachers. He argued that teachers should not launch agitations for their transfer at the convenient places. Recalling that students in remote districts are having difficulties in their studies, Minister Banskota requested the teachers’ associations and organisations not to make teachers concentrated in the cities.
