Locals concerned as things start dropping from chopper

The local people in Solukhumbu are very concerned after zinc sheets fell off from a flying helicopter. Locals are in fear and rage after two rolls of matrics including about six kilos of corrugated zinc sheets dropped from a chopper belonging to Kailash Air over the Lungding forest at Solududhkunda Municipality-1last week. Kumar Bishwokarma, a local of Taksindu, expressed his anger over the incident, saying,” The bodies concerned have not paid attention to the security although things are found dropping from flying helicopter from time to time.” Another local, Tendi Sherpa said that they have frequently urged the side concerned for the safe transport of goods by helicopter but their suggestions have so far fallen in deaf ears. He said that the regulatory body should take the responsibility in case of loss of life or property due to this sheer negligence. Construction materials and other items of daily need are being transported by helicopter from Tansindu hill to Khumbu region. According to locals, the construction materials including timber are airlifted to Khumbu hanging from choppers, which increases the risk. The Nepal Civil Aviation Act, 2073 states that no passenger, goods, postal matter, among other things should not be entered in the prohibited zone at the airport or transported by aircraft without the authorized airport employees or security personnel conducting a security check. First Gautam Buddha Cup T-20 Cricket Tournament kicks off

First Gautam Buddha Cup T-20 Cricket Championship has kicked off in Chitwan. The open and ward level cricket tournament is being held at the under-construction Gautam Buddha International Cricket Stadium at local Rampur of Bharatpur Metropolitan City-15. The cricket tournament has been organised in support of the construction of the stadium. The tourney was opened by national cricket team former skipper duo Raju Khadka and Binod Das on Thursday. Khadka batted while Das bowled in the inauguration. Addressing the inaugural mprogramme, Khadka said that it was necessary to organise this type of tournaments to produce talented players from the ward level itself. Das said Bharatpur would be the hub of national and international cricket once the construction of the Gautam Buddha International Cricket Stadium was over. Call to incorporate child rights issues in educational law

The issues concerning the protection of child rights are suggested to be incorporated in the laws related to education. “Children’s safety is the first condition for their quality learning,” stressed participants of a programme organised here today. At the programme entitled ‘ Education Act and Child Protection’ organised by the National Child Protection Alliance ( NCPA), people’s representatives, government officials and rights activists expressed concern over incidences of violence and discriminations facing children at home and school. They demanded that the violators of child rights be brought under the purview of law. “Child marriage continues to take place, problems of street children remain as it is,” they pointed out. NC begins distribution and renewal of active membership

The Nepali Congress (NC) launched the distribution of new active party membership and renewal of existing ones from today in view of its upcoming 14th General Convention. According to the party source, the House of Representatives regional working committees are responsible for undertaking the distribution of new membership and the district working committees are assigned to renew the active membership in accordance with the party’s statute. As party Spokesperson Bishwa Prakash Sharma told the RSS, the number of party’s active members who are held important in the party organisations is around 500 thousand at home and abroad. The party central working committee meeting on February 12 had agreed to allocate maximum 50 percent of the number of existing active membership to new active members. Similarly, around 100 thousand leaders and workers who are from the Nepal Loktantrik Forum, Akhanda Nepal and Nepal Samata Party among others which had been integrated into the party and newcomers who had entered the party by quitting several parties during the party’s jagaran ( awakening campaign) will be given the active membership.
