NSU demonstrates across the nation

Nepal Student Union (NSU) has demonstrated across the country today, putting forth various demands including withdrawal of price hike on petroleum products and cancellation of 10 percent tax imposed on books, among others. Action against those involved in corruption and guarantee of election to free student union (FSU) are other demands of the NSU. Negative comments for lack of publicity: CM Pokharel

Chief Minister of Province No. 5 Shanker Pokharel has said that the State government has given priority to addressing the problems related to land. The state government has completed all legal requirements to address the problems existing since a long time. Distributing land ownership certificates to the landless settlers in Baijanath rural municipality of Banke district on Saturday, he said the government has carried out some historical task, which has encouraged some parties to indulge in anti-government activities. “Various kinds of negative comments are being made as the good works done by the government have not been publicized,” he said. The State 5 has got a newly identified tourism spot in Baithauliya Kaparkatti lake at Butwal Sub-metropolitan City-16. Boating has been started for the visitors in the lake. Inaugurating the boating service on Thursday, State 5 government chief minister Shanker Pokhrel spoke of the need of promoting the culture of touring and visiting various places for the development of the tourism destinations in the State. “Besides the foreign tourists, we should promote domestic tourism to boost up the tourism industry in the country,” he said, stressing on the need of developing tourist-friendly culture to draw as many of visitors. Nepal second in paragliding championship

Nepal clinched the second position in the team event of the Paragliding World Cup Asian Tour and the 19th edition of Nepal Open Paragliding Championship, underway here. The Nepali team came out second in the ‘task’ of the 42.7 kilometres cross-country event under the World Cup qualification competition held here on Thursday. The Championship had kicked off on February 23. Championship director Bimal Adhikari said the competition was affected for three days before this due to bad weather. Korea is leading in the team event. It is in the first berth with 20 points while Nepal stands in the second position with 17 points. Nepal’s another team, The Team Everest, took the third place with 13 points. In the male singles event, Korean Chiyong Ha stood first with 750 points, Jangmen Choi took the second position with 734 points and Munshio Lim came out third with 726 points. Nepal’s Yukesh Gurung came out fourth with 719 points.
