Nepali Judicial Officers at National Law University, Jodhpur, Rajasthan, India

  The first batch of 30 Judicial Officers from Supreme Court of Nepal have started their 7 day training on ‘Case Management and Court Management’ at the National Law University, Jodhpur (Rajasthan, India) on 02 March 2020. Second batch of 30 Judicial Officers from Supreme Court of Nepal will undergo training from March 23 to 29, 2020. This is a tailor-made course specially designed at the request of Government of Nepal. The course will enhance the capacity of the officers to deal effectively with issues related to Case and Court management and use of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) in the administration of Justice. The course is fully supported by the Government of India under the Ministry of External Affairs’ Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Programme . The officers are being trained in the prestigious National Law University, Jodhpur, which is known for the advancement of learning, teaching, research and diffusion of knowledge in the field of law. It has done pioneering work in understanding the intricacies of legal research, corporate work culture and developed an insight into alternative forms of learning on academic/corporate subjects and received accolades from International law institutions/experts. After completing my responsibilities, I have been observing latest activities in Nepal for now. I have been investing my time on my committee, my relation with my organization among various development relevant study and researches. We, especially leadership levels, have had many loopholes in formulating laws from the rights in the constitution and new provisions. Various political parties have completely ignored the provision of proportional representation, given by the constitution. Only a few leaders have taken benefits of the outcome from the issues raised and various protests and revolutions staged in the past. The dream that many dreamt yesterday to transform the country, has only turned into prosperity for a few people. People had not revolted just for a few leaders. My attention will be centered on pressurizing to bring improvement on the same. The government is currently at 2/3rd majority. Bastakoti new chair of contractors association

The 19th annual general meeting of the Contractors Association, Bhaktapur district chapter has elected a new executive committee led by Raj Kumar Bastakoti. The general meeting held on Saturday elected a 17-member committee including a town committee coordinator, according to outgoing chair Niranjan Bajgain. Bijaya Kumar Deuja is the senior vice-president, Ratna Prasad Suwal the first vice-president and Laba Giri the second vice-president. Official guidelines for Tootle, Pathao service still awaited

Official guidelines for the operation of the transport services run by the private sector are yet to be issued. The users of Tootle and Pathao’s ride-sharing service in the Kathmandu Valley is on the rise while there is no rule to look after transport services being provided by using private number plate vehicles (two-wheelers). According to the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, discussions are underway at the Ministry to incorporate the Tootle and Pathao services in a bill relating to transport management presented earlier by the Department of Transport Management. As said by Ministry Spokesperson, no substantive decision to this regard has been made yet. The Transport Management Act-2048 BS has prohibited private vehicles from carrying passengers. Though the government earlier had decided to stop these services, it moved back from its decision owing to growing public concerns. Prime Minister KP Sharma had taken intervention not to implement the decision. The Department three months ago had issued a notice, asking the service providers to halt the services. Election education for students

A special programme on election education has been initiated in all the 10 local levels of the district. The programme by the District Election Office, Khotang is aimed at helping bring down the number of invalid votes during the election. The special programme targeted for Grade 9 and 10 students includes information about the voters’ list, the right way to vote, use of ballot boxes, code of conduct, types of election and election practices among others. The programme kicked off from Saraswati Namuna Secondary School in Diktel bazaar of Rupakot Majhuwagadhi municipality and will be expanded to all the schools in the local levels, said District Education Officer Kopila Rai. Students are expected to be a good medium to help minimize invalid votes through the election education. Meanwhile, the Office has also begun preparations to start biometric voter registration from coming March 20. The voter registration and updating programme will be held in all the 79 wards of the district, Rai said.
