Mayor’s Research Fellowship Programme does not receive a single application

Although the Kathmandu Metropolitan City has forwarded ‘Mayor’s Research Fellowship Programme-2020’ for long-term solution of city-related problems, not a single application has been submitted yet. KMC City Planning Commission had published a notice in the month of January but it has not received a single application so far. The deadline to submit the application has been set for third week of March. Commission Vice-Chair Saroj Basnet said, “This is youth-target programme. Man convicted of rape sent to jail

A man convicted of raping a woman with physical disabilities has been sentenced to nine years in prison by the District Court Udaypur. The court also ordered him to provide compensation of Rs 50,000 to the victim, court registrar Raj Kumar Acharya said. The predator is Bheem Bahadur Tamang, 43, of Triyuga municipality-16, Udyapur. Officials from Nepal, India agree on seven issues of common interests

A meeting of the district-level coordination committee of Nepal-India held Wednesday in Baitadi district ended with a seven-point agreement on issues of the bilateral interests. Chief District Officer (CDO) of Baitadi Ananda Poudel said that issues of law and order, disaster management, construction of a motorable bridge in Jhulaghat and others were agreed at the meeting, which was attended by the officials of bordering districts from Nepal and India. Indushankar Sugar Mill makes payment worth Rs 500 million to farmers

The Indushankar Sugar Mill, a leading sugar producing industry, at Harion, Sarlahi has started releasing pending dues to sugarcane farmers. In the first phase starting from December 27, 2019 to January 24, 2020, Rs 500 million was paid to the farmers, said company’s manager Yog Narayan Rajak. Established in 1984 in Sarlahi, the factor resumed its operation from December 27, 2019. Similarly, Annapurna Sugar Mill at Dhankaul, which is shut now, is yet to provide pending payments to the sugarcane farmers.
