Emphasize on health and food hygiene

The Western Hotel Association Pokhara has formed a ‘crisis management committee’ in order to fight the adverse situation created as a result of Coronavirus. The committee has been formed under the convenorship of the Association chair Bikal Tulachan. The committee was formed by a gathering of hotel entrepreneurs held on Saturday in order to discuss ways to sustain the business. On the occasion, the Association urged its member hotels to exercise food hygiene and pay attention to human health considering the negative impact of COVID-19 on the tourism sector. Speaking on the occasion, the Association Chair Tulachan pointed out the need to generate awareness about human health and food hygiene. Every hotel staff, tourist and consumers too need to play their part in this. The Association has also decided to run a campaign to promote domestic tourism and for this given some concession in the menu. A decision was also taken to urge the government to announce special relief package in order to secure the investment in the hotel sector. Meanwhile, the committee will work to develop a strategy against the negative impact on the tourism sector as a result of the corona virus, discuss with Nepal Rastra Bank, Tourism Ministry and the Finance Minister for relief and other subsidies. Holi to spread awareness against coronavirus

The Mithila Theatre Art Council is to observe this year’s holi festival by spreading awareness against coronavirus or COVID-19. An awareness programme will be oranised to spread message on the ways to save oneself from the virus and flowers will be used instead of coloured powder for the festival, said the Council chair Parmesh Jha. HoR members ask government to stop artificial shortage of medicines

Lawmakers have drawn attention of the government to adopt necessary alertness to prevent spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) infection and to stop artificial shortage of medicines. During the zero hour of today’s meeting of the House of Representatives, they urged the government, through the Speaker, to make arrangement of supply of daily essentials and surgical masks, saying artificial shortage of such things has started taking place in the market. On the occasion, Nepali Congress lawmaker Pushpa Bhusal asked the government to adopt alertness not to allow spread of COVID-19 infection in the country as it has started spreading across the world. Drawing the government’s attention towards shortage of daily essentials in markets, lawmaker of Nepal Communist Party, Dharmashila Chapagain, urged the government to take action immediately against those creating artificial shortage of daily essentials in market. A person arrived in Nepal from Wuhan of China on January 23 was tested positive corona and the person is now corona-free and no other case of infection was reported in Nepal so far, according to the government. Isolation ward set up at Dhaulagiri zonal hospital

An isolation ward has been set up at Dhaulagiri zonal hospital keeping in mind the risks resulting from coronavirus (COVID-19). A two bed isolation ward has been placed at hospital as part of its preparation to provide corona health service, shared acting medical superintendant Dr Shailendra BK Pokharel. He further said the isolation ward was prepared to provide treatment and counseling service to the suspected patients. “Now the isolation ward has two beds. We would add beds based on the need”, he said. The hospital sources said patients mainly with fever, sneezing and cough coming to the hospital would be treated and counseled maintaining high alerts.
