No corona effect in Melamchi water project

The Melamchi Drinking Water Project has no threat of novel corona virus. The national pride project is near completion as little construction is left now. The Chinese Sino Hydro Project is undertaking the project but it is not affected by corona threat while China is facing hardship due to epidemic of corona virus. According to senior division engineer Kamal Raj Shrestha, the construction work is smoothly going on. He added that the work was expedited to meet the target of supplying drinking water in Kathmandu by upcoming July. About 50 per cent workers are Chinese but they are regularly working in the field. PM Oli takes regular balanced diet, TUTH says

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has been given the regular balanced diet from today–the fifth day of his second renal transplant, the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) said. Issuing a press note today, the TUTH said that there have been gradual improvements in the health condition of PM Oli. Hospital’s Executive Director Prof Dr Prem Krishna Khadga said they have started to give the balanced diet, and the PM has started to walk around. 3 billion budget for tourism development in Bagmati state

The Bagmati state government has planned Rs 3 billion-budget for the tourism promotion with infrastructure development in the current fiscal year. The budget managed by the Ministry of Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment, will be spent to construct necessary infrastructures and publicity campaign. Planning Officer at the Ministry, Hem Pathak, informed that the State government has intensified the process to build physical infrastructures by determining the tourist destinations in all districts except in the Kathmandu Valley. “The concept of ‘one district one model tourist destination’ will be implemented. According to him, Sailung of Dolakha, Hariharpur fort of Sindhuli, Basukithumki of Kavre, Kakani of Nuwakot, Brahmayani of Sindhupalchowk, Ruby Valley of Dhading, Somdang of Rasuwa, Daman-Chitlang of Makwanpur, Meghauli of Chitwan and Jiri Shivalaya of Ramechhap have been determined as tourist destinations. The tourist destinations were however determined by the respective districts. The Ministry is also planning to launch separate programmes for Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur districts. Coordination and collaboration with the local levels have been extended for the implementation of the project. Scores trapped as quarantine hotel collapses in Quanzhou, China

Around 70 people were trapped after a hotel in the Chinese city of Quanzhou collapsed at about 19:30 local time (11:30 GMT). The hotel was being used as a coronavirus quarantine facility, monitoring people who had had close contact with coronavirus patients. According to state media, about 47 of the 70 had been pulled from the rubble of the five-storey Xinjia Hotel by Sunday.  It is not clear what caused the collapse or if there is any death reports. The hotel reportedly opened in 2018 and had 80 guest rooms. As of Friday, Fujian province had 296 cases of coronavirus. Meanwhile 10,819 people have been placed under observation because they have been in close contact with someone infected. RPP parties unite with three presidents

The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (united) and Rastriya Prajatantra Party have announced unification between the two parties. The two parties finally came to an agreement to become one after long discussion and dialogue. RPP (united) chairpersons Pashupti JB Rana and Dr Prakash Chandra Lohani, and RPP Chair Kamal Thapa signed the approach paper to the unification on Saturday night. Accordingly, the new party will have three presidents. The declaration assembly will be held on March 11. The three presidents will decide on the central committee composition, division of responsibilities and day-to-day affairs of the party. The Unified RPP has decided to adopt the principle of democracy with monarchy and Sanata Hindu State. Likewise, it shall follow local self-governance, liberal economy and non-aligned foreign policy. An interim statute will be developed accordingly. The statute will be drafted and presented by a committee within the next six months. As per the agreement, the general convention of the unified party will be held within the next 18 months. The election symbol of both the parties have been withheld for six months. RPP flag will be used by the new party as well. A task force has been formed to determine further procedures of the unification.
