State not sincere towards families of disappeared persons: CM Raut

Chief Minister of state-2, Lalbabu Raut, has argued that families of the disappeared persons have not yet been provided with justice as the state was not sincere towards them. At a state-level interaction programme with the victims and stakeholders organsied by Commission of Investigation on Enforced Disappeared Persons in Janakpur today, Chief Minister Raut stressed that the state should be sincere to give justice to the victims’ families. He also expressed the belief that the families of disappeared persons would get justice in coming days, adding that the state government would help ensure justice to 196 families in state-2. CM Raut added, “Let’s resolve the problems of families of disappeared persons soon. Justice should be given to the victims’ families to heal their wounds.” He urged the Commission to resolve the problem of families of disappeared persons immediately. EPL deferred following coronavirus fear

The fourth Everest Premier League (EPL), the franchise Twenty20 cricket tournament, has been postponed for indefinite time following the fear of corona virus, said managing director of the EPL, Aamir Aktar. The infection started from Wuhan in China has spread over more than five dozen countries. The postponement followed discussions with the Nepal Cricket Association, participating teams and sponsors, he said. “We will set new date for the game after the situation created by the virus comes under control,” he said. 18 new members in the NA take oath

Newly elected 18 members in the National Assembly, the Upper House in the Federal Parliament, took oath of office and secrecy today. NA chairman Ganesh Prasad Timilsina administered oath to the new members amidst a programme at the New Baneshwor-based Federal Parliament Building. They will have a six- year term. Among them, 16 are from the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) and two are from the Rastriya Janata Party (RJP) Nepal. Indira Devi Gautam, Gopi Bahadur Sarki Achchhami, Devendra Dahal, Tulasa Kumari Dahal, Radheshyam Paswan, Shekhar Kumar Singh, Mrigendra Kumar Singh Yadav, Ganga Kumari Belbase and Beduram Bhusal are the new faces entering the NA. Gatherings, meetings prohibited

Various programmes and events scheduled to be held in the district have been postponed in wake of the risk of infection of the Coronavirus or COVID-19. Accordingly, the Visit Nepal Year 2020 unification trail trek event scheduled to be held on March 7 has been postponed. The event was being organised by the Nepal Army’s Bishnu Battalion in Dhulikhel. It was aimed at promoting the routes used during the unification of modern Nepal. Likewise, the cottage industry festival has been postponed until March 15. An emergency meeting of the district disaster management committee took the decision. It has also requested the local administration and all local levels to avoid any fair, festivals and other functions that involve gathering of large number of people until further notice, said the district coordination committee chair Uddav KC.
