India Gifts 23 tonnes of Essential medicines to Nepal to Fight COVID-19

As part of ongoing bilateral cooperation between India and Nepal to fight COVID-19 Pandemic, Ambassador of India to Nepal Shri Vinay Mohan Kwatra, on behalf of the Government of India, handed over 23 tonnes of medicines to Minister for Health and Population Mr. Bhanubhakta Dhakal, Government of Nepal. The consignment, as a gift from the people of India to people of Nepal, includes 8.25 lakhs dosage of essential medicines, including 3.2 lakhs dosage of Paracetamol and 2.5 lakhs dosages of Hydroxychloroquine. This initiative manifests continuing cooperation of India and Nepal in all situations and circumstances. Our leaders have shown commitment to fight COVID-19 Pandemic and protect our people. Germany sends China £130 billion bill for ‘Coronavirus Damages’

FRANKFURT: China has faced a backlash from some European countries following suspicions over the former’s role in the novel coronavirus pandemic which has claimed over 1 lakh lives in Europe so far. German newspapers have put together a 130-billion-pound invoice that it said China ‘owes’ Berlin after the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, international media reports have said. The report has listed a Euro 27 billion charge for Germany’s lost tourism revenue, some 7.2 billion Euro for German film industry, 50 billion Euro for German small businesses, and over a million an hour for German airline Lufthansa. A German newspaper Bild also calculated that this totals to 1,550 pounds per person if the GDP of Germany fell by 4.2 per cent. Life in the era of COVID-19

COVID-19 has brought with it many disruptions. Coronavirus has significantly changed the contours of professional life. These days, home is the new office. The Internet is the new meeting room. For the time being, office breaks with colleagues are history. I have also been adapting to these changes. Most meetings, be it with minister colleagues, officials and world leaders, are now via video conferencing. In order to get ground level feedback from various stakeholders, there have been videoconference meetings with several sections of society. There were extensive interactions with NGOs, civil society groups and community organisations. There was an interaction with Radio Jockeys too. Besides that, I have been making numerous phone calls daily, taking feedback from different sections of society. One is seeing the ways through which people are continuing their work in these times. There are a few creative videos by our film stars conveying a relevant message of staying home. Our singers did an online concert. Chess players played chess digitally and through that contributed to the fight against COVID-19. Quite innovative! The work place is getting Digital First. And, why not? After all, the most transformational impact of Technology often happens in the lives of the poor....
