Kathmandu, In partnership with the U.K. Government funded Skills for Employment Program Skill (SEEP), Upaya City Cargo, a technology based online marketplace for intra-city logistics, will provide self-employment opportunities to returnee migrant workers and other economically vulnerable groups, including women. Upaya City Cargo efficiently connects individuals and businesses with driver partners by integrating technology to ensure quick and hassle-free delivery of bulk goods. Currently, Upaya City Cargo has expanded their services to Butwal, Bhairawa and Pokhara; integrated agri-business through the KHETI app; and will enter the two-wheeler market segment aiming to generate skilled employment opportunity for 2,600 drivers and farmers. Upaya City Cargo recently invested in D.V Excellus Pvt. Ltd. to integrate agri-business through the “KHETI” platform, an online marketplace for farm products and a provider of end-to-end solutions for farmers and small agri-enterprises. COVID-19 vaccination: Almost 185,000 inoculated in first phase

Kathmandu: A total of 184,857 people have received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in the first phase of the immunization programme held in the country. The vaccination programme was held after the country received one million doses of the vaccine as a grant from neighbouring India. The Covishield vaccine was administered to 184,857 persons through 201 vaccination centres set up in different parts of the country, Ministry of Health and Population Spokesperson Dr Jageswar Gautam said. Those receiving the vaccine include 24,224 in province 1, 25,637 in province 2, 63,308 in Bagmati province, 18,472 in Gandaki, 28,941 in Lumbini, 9,420 in Karnali and 14,855 in Sudur Paschim province. Those who received the first dose in the first phase will be prioritized in the second phase of the vaccination for the second dose of the vaccine. Number of applicants for new driving license exceeds 500,00

Number of individuals registering application for new driving license has exceeded 500,000. Service recipients have filled up forms through transport management offices across the country to attend examination for driving license. The government had adjourned the task of receiving applications for new driving license since mid-March last year due to COVID-19 fear. Department’s Information Officer Dr Loknath Bhusal said the flow was high as application process for the license was held for a hiatus of 10 months before. He further shared that arrangement has been made in a way to enable applicants to register their applications during 24 hours and all seven days. “The service recipients can submit application for license in their suitable time”. Earlier, the Department had opened up online registration of application in the certain time. It was difficult for the service recipients to fill up the forms at once due to over subscription. Spokesperson Dr. Bhusal shared that trouble in submitting application has been removed right now. “Complaints on difficulty in registering application for license have gradually come down”. The application for new driving license was opened up since mid-December 2020 in coordination between the office under the Province government and the department under the federal government.
