Kathmandu – The Indian Embassy in Kathmandu has celebrated the Indian Independence Day with various programs. The Embassy celebrated the 77th Indian Independence Day today with grandeur by organizing various events.

The embassy said that the day was celebrated under the ‘Festival of Independence’. Naveen Srivastava, Indian Ambassador to Nepal, inaugurated the ceremony by hoisting the national flag of India. Addressing the program, Ambassador Srivastava wished the members of the Indian diaspora in Nepal on Independence Day.

Similarly, the President of India Mrs. Draupadi Murmu’s speech on behalf of the nation was presented through video. In her message, she remembered the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters for India’s independence and discussed the achievements of the country in various fields.

She also said that she has seen a new faith in the Indian diaspora towards the story of India. He also believes that India is playing an important role in promoting development and humanitarian goals worldwide.

In the event, the embassy distributed Rs 53.3 million to the wife and next of kin of the deceased Gurkha soldiers of the Indian Armed Forces.

The program presented by the students of Embassy’s Swami Vivekananda Cultural Center and Kendriya Vidyalaya Kathmandu was broadcast live through the Embassy’s Facebook and YouTube pages.
