Mustang — A foundation stone was laid on Sunday for the construction of a hostel building and dining hall for Shree Divya Deep Secondary School, located in Lo Manthang Rural Municipality of Mustang district.
The ceremony was jointly conducted by Prasanna Shrivastava, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of India in Kathmandu, and Tashi Nhrbu Gurung, Chairperson of Lo Manthang Rural Municipality.
Under the India–Nepal Development Cooperation framework, the project is being constructed with a financial grant of NPR 37.6 million (Rs. 3.76 crore) from the Government of India. The funding will support the construction of a hostel building, a dining hall, kitchen facilities, toilets, bathrooms, rest rooms, and other related infrastructure.
This initiative is being implemented as part of the High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP) and is executed through the Lo Manthang Rural Municipality. The school is the only higher secondary institution in Upper Mustang.
The school serves students from Lo-Ghekar Damodar Kunda and Lo Manthang rural municipalities and aims to provide quality education through experienced and inspiring teachers.
The foundation stone laying ceremony was attended by local political representatives, government officials, social workers, teachers, students, and their parents, marking a significant step forward in educational development for the region.
