Sarlahi – The Blacktopped Road from Indian Border- Laxmipur-Balara to Gadhaiya in Sarlahi District built with Government of India’s financial assistance of NRs. 44.48 Million was jointly inaugurated by Shri Nitesh Kumar, Consul General of the Consulate General of India, Birgunj and Shri Binod Kumar Mauwar, Division Chief of Department of Roads, Road Division, Chandranigahpur-2.
The Government of India grant under ‘Nepal-Bharat Development Cooperation’ was utilized for construction of Blacktopped Road. It has two packages viz. Package –I of 4.46 Kms from Indian Border-Laxmipur-Balara-Mirzapur and Package – II of 1.62 Kms from Mirzapur to Gadahiya Road/Hulaki Road.
The Project was taken up as a High Impact Community Development Project under an Agreement between Government of India and Government of Nepal. 3.The MoU for the construction of the said road was signed between the Embassy of India, Kathmandu and the Division Road Office, Mujeliya, Janakpur under the Department of Roads, Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport of Govt. of Nepal. Now the project is under the jurisdiction of Chandranigahapur Road Division.
The newly built blacktopped road connecting the Indo-Nepal Border is expected to ease the movement of daily commuters across the border. 4.The project is a reflection of India’s development partnership with Nepal and complements effort of Government of Nepal in strengthening infrastructure.
