Tulasipur to be developed as first ‘Sports City’ of Nepal

Kathmandu – Tulasipur Sub-Metropolitan City, Dang, of Province no 5 is going to be developed as the first ‘Sport City’ of Nepal. The preliminary report released by a taskforce formed by the National Sports Council (NSC) said that it would be suitable to construct Sports City in Tulasipur. The taskforce formed under coordination of NSC Board member Binod Mainali around seven months ago drew the conclusion in this regard. Member of Mid-Western Regional Sports Committee, Bhim Oli, Sport experts—Nilendraraj Shrestha and Shivaraj Bhatta and Chairperson of District Sports Development Committee, Dang, Dilli Bahadur Dangi, were the members of the taskforce. The taskforce determined Tulasipur Sub-Metropolitan City for the Sports City due to various reasons including sufficient number of playground, positive thinking if locals towards sports, facility of transport service, construction of physical infrastructures for food and accommodation. Sports City plays a significant role in producing national and international level sportspersons thereby enhancing the national prestige, in the development amd construction of sports infrastructures fit for organising national and international sports competitions and in the promotion of sports industries and tourism. Woman attacked, whisked away

Ratnanagar, Chitwan – A tiger attacked and whisked away a woman while collecting fodder at a forest at Bharatpur Metropolitan City-25 in Chitwan today morning. Sushila Dumre was collecting fodder in local Raptidun Buffer Zone Community Forest along with her friends when the incident occurred. One who accompanied Dumre to the forest collapsed upon seeing Dumre being attacked by the animal, and is receiving treatment at a local health post, while another saved life by fleeing the attack, said local resident Bikas Pathak. Body parts of Dumre were found scattered in the forest, he said. Information officer at the Chitwan National Park Nurendra Aryal confirmed the tiger attack. Man arrested with ruby worth Rs 160 million

Kathmandu –  The police today made public a man arrested on Sunday in illegal possession with two kilograms ruby worth approximately Rs 160 million, amid a press meet. A team from the Metropolitan Police Circle, Durbarmarga, acting on a tip off, held Dipak Sijapati, 48, of Lalitpur while supplying the valuable stone in the Kathmandu market. Sijapati has been charged with storing and supplying the precious stone illegally. Likewise, the police arrested two persons with over IRs 1.2 million including banned banknotes of IRs 500 and 1000 denomination. Communications Minister calls for effective implementation of annual action plan

Kathmandu –Minister for Communications and Information Technology Gokul Prasad Banskota has directed the Ministry and chiefs of its subordinate bodies for effective implementation of annual policy, programmes and budget on time. Releasing Integrated Action Plan of the programmes to be run by the Ministry in the current fiscal year 2018/19 today, Minister Banskota urged all to work actively to fulfill the mission of prosperous Nepal after producing good results being based on the policy. The Ministry has released the Integrated Action Plan in a different way as compared to previous years on various issues including building Digital Nepal, formation of Public Broadcasting Service, modernization of postal service and improving quality of Telecom as well as simplification of legal and policy-level issues of Nepal Telecom. Minister Banskota said, “It is necessary to spend budget by concluding works as per the target on the slated timeframe as well as to involve in economic growth.” He further said that the trend of saying the budget was not enough to carry out works in just before budget release should be ended. HoR passes proposal on Public Security (third amendment) Bill

Kathmandu – Today’s meeting of House of Representatives has unanimously passed the proposal of sending the Bill regarding Public Security (third amendment)-2075 for clause-wise discussion at the concerned committee, for discussion. Earlier, Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Bhanu Bhakta Dhakal, on the behalf of the Home Minister, had presented the proposal. Similarly, the meeting also unanimously passed the proposal presented by Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Girirajmani Pokharel, of sending National Medical Education Bill-2075 to the concerned committee for clause-wise discussion. Likewise, the HoR passed the proposal of sending bills– Audit Bill-2075, and Insurance Bill-2075, presented by Law Minister Dhakal on the behalf of the Finance Minister, at the concerned committee for clause-wise discussion.
