‘One District-Two Agriculture Pocket Areas’ programme launched in Karnali

Birendranagar– The Ministry of Land, Agriculture and Cooperatives Management of the Karnali province government has made preparation for implementing the One District-Two Agriculture Pocket Areas Programme in all the districts of the province. The Ministry has planned to construct a cooperatives complex in Surkhet, the capital of the province. It has also envisaged operating various programmes for increased marketing of agriculture produce in the province. Province Minister for Land, Agriculture and Cooperatives Management, Bimala KC shared this information organising a news conference here on Friday. On the occasion, she said that her ministry has spent around 65 per cent of the total budget allocated to it for the fiscal year 2017/18. The province gobernment had allocated Rs 100 million 777 thousand to the Ministry for the current fiscal. Of this budget, the Ministry has spent Rs 65 million 475 thousand so far, she added. Minister KC claimed that the programmes launched by her ministry have started showing results and the farmers have benefitted from these programmes. The Ministry has implemented scores of programmes like construction of cooperative buildings, milk refrigeration facilities and small and cooperative irrigation projects in the province. Narcotic drug users increasing in Banke district

Banke– The number of narcotics drug users and those involved in its trafficking is found increasing in Banke district over the last few years, police said. The District Police Office, Banke states that the sheer number of people arrested in connection with drug trafficking and abuse, the number of related cases registered in court and the volume of such drugs confiscated by police vindicated to this trend. As per the statistics of the last three years, the number of drug users and traffickers is found increasing instead of decreasing. Moreover, teenage girls are also found involved in substance abuse and its trafficking. According to police, the banned drugs are easily available in the Indian border town Rupaidiha, which is close to the district. It is said that some of these teenage girls who are involved in drug abuse and trafficking due to the influence of their peers are into prostitution also. Teenage girls from the district as well as those from other districts who are living here in course of higher studies or for any other works, are found involved in these illegal activities. Police stated that 11 teenage girls were arrested on the charge of drug peddling or abuse in the district in fiscal year 2017/18. Work procedure on tourist search, rescue, medical treatment and monitoring enforced

Kathmandu– The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation has enforced the Work Procedure on Search, Rescue, Medical Treatment and Monitoring of Tourists, 2018. The work procedure is implemented with the goal of making the search and rescue of tourists in case of natural disaster decent and systematic. Ministry’s joint spokesman Prakash Sharma Dhakal said the work procedure has been implemented with the objective of making the works related to search, rescue and treatment of tourists prompt, easy and smooth whenever disaster hits the tourists in course of trekking, river rafting, mountaineering and other adventure tourism activities. The goal is also to lessen the impact of such disasters as far as possible. The work procedure requires that the tourism agency concerned has to immediately carry out the search and rescue if any tourist or their assistant workers are lost or go missing after hit by natural disasters or any other causes in course of adventure tourism activities. It is also the responsibility of the agency and the tourist guide concerned to take and bring back the tourist to the destination in a safe manner. Flood submerges 500 houses

Rajbiraj – The flood-fed Saptakoshi River has inundated around 500 households in Saptari district. Most of the human settlements from Jaminiya to Rampura Malahaniya of Hanumannagar Kankalani municipality and in ward 3 and 4 of Tilathi Koiladi rural municipality have been waterlogged due to flooding in the Saptakoshi last night, shared Assistant Sub Inspector at Police Office Hanumannagar, Chandrasagar Kerung. The flood survivors were rescued and kept at safer places in Bhardaha Kunauli road side this morning. Chairperson of Tilathi Koiladi rural municipality Satish Kumar Singh shared that the flood also has submerged paddy planted over 300 bighas. Khula Munch to remain closed for four days

Kathmandu – The bus park which was relocated to Khula Munch (Open Theatre) in Tundikhel from old bus park area is to remain closed for four days. The Khuila Munch will be shut for four days from today as the open theatre which has been in decrepit state of affairs due to torrential rain and huge flow of vehicles needs renovation, shared Metropolitan Traffic Police Division Chief and SSP Basanta Kumar Panta. An arrangement has been made for the vehicles bound to Khula Munch via Araniko Highway to move to new Bus Park through Koteswor, Saatdobato and Kalanki, he informed. Likewise, the vehicles coming from Chawahil, Bouddha, Sankhu, Thankot, Kirtipur and Daxinkali among others are allowed to drop their passengers at the Ratna Park. Similarly, the odd and even number system has been enforced for the vehicles being operated in the Valley so as to ensure smooth traffic management during the BIMSTEC Summit scheduled for August 30-31.
