Adhikari elected chair of Pokhara Chamber of Commerce and Industries

Kaski – Damu Adhikari was elected the Chairman of Pokhara Chamber of Commerce and Industries from the 32nd convention that concluded on Saturday. As per the voting results announced late night on Saturday, Adhikari of the left panel won the elections by defeating his rival Rabindra Bahadur Praju. Adhikari routed Praju by seven votes. Adhikari got 1,478 votes while Praju managed 1,471 votes in the voting. After his election to the post, Adhikari has committed to play proactive role during his 2 years of tenure for the creation of business-friendly environment in Pokhara–the province capital of Gandaki Province. Likewise, Narayan Koirala was elected the senior vice-chair while Bindu Koirala Subedi was elected the vice-chair under the industry sector while Pawan Prajapati was elected the vice-chair under the commerce sector. CFPA launches project supporting women’s empowerment

Kathmandu –  has launched a project supporting women’s empowerment in Devchuli Municipality of Nawalpur district. The Safa Sunaulo Nepal (SSN) and local women group Sakriya Sanakisan Sahakari Samuha are partners in the project named Nepalese Women Occupational Support Programme. The project with support from the Give2Asia will benefit about 400 farmers directly in the district by improving their living conditions through micro-financing, said a programme officer. As part of the project, the SSN handed over the seed money to the Sahakari Samuha, and the agreement paper was signed among CFPA Nepal office, the SSN and the Sahakari Samuha amid a programme in the district. “Microfinance programme is one of the most successful programmes run by the CFPA since past over 20 years. We will try to integrate our best experience model into the programme design, implementation and management,” said Zou Zhiqiang, the country director of the CFPA Nepal while addressing the event. Humla schools supported

Humla – Two community schools in Kharpunath Rural Municipality, Humla district have received technical assistance from Good Neighbours International and Karnali Integrated Rural Development and Research Centre (KIRDRC), Nepal. Sita Secondary School and Malika Secondary School have obtained computers meant for their quality enhancement and motivate the students towards new technology under the Education Programme launched by KIRDRC with the financial support from Good Neighbours International. The computers and IT materials worth Rs 1 million were distributed to the two schools located in the central belt of the district.
