Snowfall in Humla

Humla, Nov 4 – Snowfall began in various parts of Humla this morning. The first snowfall of the year began at around 7:00 in the morning today. Snowfall has been experienced quite early this year in the district. Normally, snowfall used to start from the month of Poush in the Lunar calendar but it started a month before in Kartik. The snow fall has also led to a dip in the temperature. Temperature in Simikot, the district headquarters has plummeted to minus 6 degree centigrade this morning. Meanwhile, the early than usual snowfall has made the farmers concerned, as the harvest was yet to be collected and stored. Free Surgery for cataract patients

Waling, Nov 4 – Surgery has been successfully performed on 43 patients suffering from cataract at a three-day free eye camp that concluded here Saturday. The camp was organized by the Eye Treatment Centre, Waling and Primary Health Centre, Waling with the technical support of the Himalayan Eye Hospital, Gharipatan, Pokhara. A total of 450 persons had undergone eye examination at the camp, according to Chief of the Centre Tej Bahadur Gurung. Ophthalmologist Dr Harimaya Gurung led a seven member team of ophthalmologists that carried out the surgery and provided free medicines and eye glasses. Revenue collection by Birgunj customs office exceeds target

Parsa, Nov 4 – The revenue collection by the Birgunj Customs Office in the past three months of the current fiscal year exceeded the target. The office gathered over Rs 43.19 billion in revenue in this period against the target of Rs 37.75 billion. As told by office chief Gopal Khatri, the collection is 13 percent more than the target and 42 percent more than the revenue raised in the corresponding period last fiscal year. Bhaktapur –  As many as three people were hurt when a house at Dhunche Pakha at Madhyapur Municipality-7 in Bhaktapur caught a fire today morning. The house belonging to Sukdev Badal caught on fire where Badal’s 50-year-old spouse Hari Maya Badal, his brother 45-year-old Padamnath and 31-year-old daughter Rupa Badal.
