The Beginning of the Cordial Era

– Bhuminanda Devkota When we look into the human history, we have heard and read about different kinds of eras that had begun and ended in this world. Each era had its specific nature. According to the statements specified by humans, the era is the duration of these different time period that are divided into Satya, Treta, Dwaper and Kaliyug. On the basis of this, it is believed that the world is in Kaliyug era. But in reality, the human society and the welfare of entire world is specified as an era rather than the period, when the society was led to the path of salvation and liberation by divine personalities through their thoughts, policy, rule, law and Karma. Even in present, the era is defined as the duration of the religious journey made by some amazing divine personalities who led to religious salvation and liberation through the concept of peace, stability and coexistence followed by them. As the result, the human beings are now divided into different traditions like Hindus, Buddhists, Christians, Muslims, Jains, etc. and they are following it. Thus, due to the influence of diverse effects, the age of the present era is called as Kaliyug. The human community had continued their journey to the present age with mutual integrity, hostility, hatred, and wilderness, tolerating many battles and destruction; and heart aching disasters. The “Bodhi Marg...

Assault on the Voice of the Enlightened Master

Picture of Mahasambodhi Dharma Sangha Gurujyu   – Bhuminanada Devkota First of all, I would like to offer my gratitude to Maitri Dharma Sangha for enabling me to have an audience with Mahasmabodhi Dharma Sangha Gurujyu who is an embodiment of pure spiritual awareness, meditation and yoga. I hold deep and abiding reverence to Gurujyu for much sought after and rare opportunity made available to me to be illumined by his noble and pure thoughts, percepts and observations. Though some people may dismiss the thoughts and observations of Gurujyu as baseless gossips, I am firmly convinced of the depth, rationale and significance of the words spoken by Him. In the interaction with this scribe (Aaalekhkarta) Gurujyu was emphatic on the need to rise above and eliminate discriminations based on such attributes as religious faith, communal affiliations, power, status, wealth and qualification. We are all aware that we do not bring none of these things on this earth when we are born. It is therefore worthless and futile to create disparities and practice discriminations based on selfishness,   prejudices, ignorance and egotism. They, in fact, pose hindrances to usher peace and harmony in the society. It is better to throw them aside and pursue the path of non- discrimination, harmony and righteousness. Gurujyu spoke to me on the need to eschew false acrimonies, mutual hatred and animosities which can ultimately...

Sukhet, Dec 5 : Raute community’s Mahamukhiya (the Main Chief) Mahin Bahadur Shahi is lately very concerned over the members of his community being taken ill at a staggering rate. The habitat of the Raute population-estimated to be 180 or roughly 52 families -is mostly the forest areas of the mid-western part of the country, according to a study conducted by the UNDP in 2011. Known as a ‘King of Forest’, these tribal people prefer to live in isolation in the woods and earn their livelihood by bartering their wooden pottery and traditional crafts for food-grains with the local people. The 66-year-old Shahi, who has been the Head of his community for a long time, voiced his concern about the growing cases of ailments catching his subjects. The elderly Raute said, “Earlier we used get injured by falling from the cliff during our hunting activities. We used to apply herbal medicines in the wound or in case of falling sick. Minor ailments were easily cured by the local herbs but lately our people are stricken with malady.” The increasing cases of communicable diseases among the Rautes in other groups are also a cause for concern for their...
