‘Govt. has taken wide-body purchasing issue seriously’

Kathmandu, Dec 5 : Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Rabindra Adhikari, has said that the government and the ministry was serious regarding the questions raised over the purchase of the wide-body aircraft of Nepal Airlines Corporation. Responding to the queries raised by lawmakers in today’s meeting of the Public Accounts Committee under the House of Representatives, Minister Adhikari said that although it was found that the wide-body aircraft was purchased after completing all process and method, investigation and study was underway where weaknesses took place. He said, “The government will take action if there was any irregularity in course of purchasing the aircraft. Investigation and study was underway. A high-level probe committee will be formed if needed. The government is ready to move ahead in consultation with Committee.” The Tourism Minister said that the flights have been affected in some countries as the European Union has kept Nepal’s aircraft in its black list, adding that Nepal has signed aviation agreement with 39 countries. Hamdard University Bangladesh interested to collaborate with Nepal

Kathmandu– A five members team headed by Professor Dr. A.K Azad Khan from Hamdard Laboratories and Hamdard University Bangladesh visited Kathmundu, Nepal in order to forge collaboration between Nepal and Bangladesh for human recourse development in different sectors including health sciences. They also discussed the possibilities of developing medicines from Natural products from Nepal. Discussions were also held regarding export of natural products from Hamdard Bangladesh until the time of production facilities developed in Nepal. Hamdard being a philanthropic organization proposed to offer education program at a much subsidized fees and in deserving cases provide scholarship. The team met Upendra Yadav, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, Mr. Giri Rajmani Pokharel, Minister of Education, Science and Technology, Mr. Khaga Raj Baral, Secretary General of Ministry of Education, Science and Technology and other high officials. Foundation stone laid to Thrishuli III B Substation

Kathmandu. The foundation stone of the Trishuli III Substation to contribute some 600 MW electricity to the national grid has been laid on Wednesday. Minister for Energy, Hydropower and Irrigation Barshaman Pun laid the foundation stone to the hydropower project located between Rasuwa and Nuwakot. The foundation laying function was also attended by Vice President of European Investment Bank, Andrew Mcdowell, Ambassador of EU delegation, Veronica Cody, and German Ambassador to Nepal, Roland Schafer, among others. The cost of the substation is 65.25 million Euro. The substation brings together the electricity generated from nearly a dozen of hydropower including Upper Trishuli III A (60 MW), Upper Trishuli III B (37 MW), Rasuwagadi (111 MW), Upper Trishuli I (216 MW), Rasuwa Bhotekoshi 120 (120 MW), Sanjen (42.5 MW), and Upper Sanjen (14.8 MW). Kathmandu. President of Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that the education henceforth needs to be practical and scientific. CPN youth leaders demand Central Committee meeting

Kathmandu.  Some youth leaders of the CPN have demanded immediate meeting of the party central committee. CPN central member Thakur Gaire shared that a memorandum demanding the central committee meeting was submitted to General Secretary of the party, Bishnu Poudel, at parliamentary party office of the party, Singha Durbar on Wednesday. The forthcoming meeting of the party secretariat meeting was urged to call the central committee meeting.
