A resolution motion has been registered at the secretariat of Sudurpaschim State Assembly on Tuesday calling for return of India-encroached Nepali territory Kalapani. ‘Corona health desk’ set up in Mahottari

In order to check possible outbreak of coronavirus infection, health desks have been set up in 11 different places in Mahottari along the Indian border. According to the Mahottari District Health Office, people entering through the border checkpoints would be screened to confirm whether the entrants have coronavirus infection. Health desks have come into operation in Khairabani, Raghunathpur, Samsi, Pokharbhinda, Itaharwakatti, Katti, Sisawakataiya, Bathanaha, Maruwahi, Bhiththamor and Matihani along the border of Nepal and India, shared senior health administrator Nagendra Prasad Chaudhary. Ward chair found dead

Ward chair of Panchadeval Binayak municipality-2 in Achham, Padam Bahadur Dhami, has been found dead. His lifeless body was retrieved in a cowshed this morning. The incident site is 30 minutes’ walk from the Binayak Bazaar. The death of Dhami of around 40 years is deemed suspicious, police said. Police preliminary investigations suggest that it was a murder as the body was found covered in blood, said District Police Office Achham’s police inspector Ramesh Dutta Awasthi. Further investigation into the case is underway. Police was made aware of it at 6:30 am. A police team led by District Police Office Chief, Deputy Superintendent of Police Deepak Bharati has already reached the site and the Office has mobilised its mechanism and has sought help of a sniffer dog from Dhangadhi for the investigation. Nepal to play its opening match with Oman

The national cricket team is scheduled to play the opening match of ICC World Cup Cricket League Two with Oman. The match would be held at TU Cricket Pitch in Kirtipur tomorrow. Officials have said that the cricketers from Oman and the United States have already landed in Kathmandu. The tournament to continue till 12 February will have six matches and Nepal, Oman and USA will play the triangular series. Each team will play two games. Nepal will play its second match with the US on February 8 and the third match with Oman on February 9. Nepal, Scotland, UAE, Namibia, Oman, PNG and the USA are in the League Two of the ICC Cricket. Rushmoor Borough Council and Gorakha establish sister city relations

The Gorakha Municipality and Rushmoor Borough Council of Great Britain have established sister city relations. Mayor of Rushmoor Borough, Sue Carter and Mayor of Gorakha Municipality Rajan Raj Panta signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to this effect on behalf their respective cities. On the occasion, Mayor Panta said Gorakha municipality was different from other municipalities in Nepal, adding that Gorakha district has historic importance as it was the king of Gorkha Prithvi Narayan Shah who initiated the national unification campaign from this district. Mayor Panta stated that a statue of the late king was installed there, commemorating his contribution to national unification. He said the Gorakha Municipality was working to develop Gorakha as a major tourist destination and also set the slogan, ‘Visit Gorakha, Explore Gorakha’, for this purpose. According to him, this campaign will also contribute to the Visit Nepal Year 2020. At the programme, Rushmoor Borough’s leader David Clifford said the reason behind establishing sister city relations with Gorakha instead of other municipalities in Nepal was that the Nepalis serving in the British Army are known as the Gurkha soldiers which is same as Gorakha.
