Nepal suffers 18-run defeat to Oman in ICC World Cup League Two

Nepal has conceded an 18-run defeat to Oman in a match on Wednesday under the ongoing ICC World Cup League Two championship at Tribhuvan University International Cricket Stadium in Kirtipur. Electing to bat first after winning the toss, Oman made 197 runs in allotted 50 overs at the loss of 9 wickets. In the chase of the 198 runs target, Nepal was restricted to 179 in 46.5 overs at the loss of all wickets. For Oman, Mohammad Nadim hit highest 69 runs including two sixes and five boundaries. Similarly, Sandip Gaud made 33 runs, Nashim Khusi 28, Jeshan Maksud 20 and Akib Lyas 16. In batting, Nepal started badly with the loss of Captain Gyanendra Malla in the fourth over. At that time, Nepal scored only four runs. Likewise, Paras Khadka was out in five overs, scoring only one run. However, the match picked up when the partnership between Dipendra Singh and Sharad Bheshwakar made 62 runs. But this was not enough to defeat well organised Oman. ‘Senior Citizens Health Programme’ in the offing in far-west

The Far Western State Government will be implementing the ‘Chief Minister Senior Citizens Health Programme’ from the current fiscal year. The ministry of social development stated the programme is to be implemented through the district health offices. Issuing a circular, the hospital development and medical services division under the ministry has already informed all the district health offices in the State about the process going on in regard with the project implementation, said division chief Dr Chetraj Joshi. Initially, the programme will be implemented as a model one. The programme is primarily targeted at those senior citizens and people with disabilities who are not in the position of visiting health facilities to receive healthcare services. Under the programme, targets groups will be rendered services upon reaching their doorsteps. The programme to be launched as a model would be expanded to a larger scale next year if it turns out to be effective. Procedures have begun to hire workforce necessary towards that end. In the current fiscal, Rs three million has been allocated for the programme implementation. Murder accused ward chair arrested

Police on Tuesday arrested ward chairperson of Rajbiraj municipality-15, Ram Prasad Yadav, on the charge of his involvement in attempt to murder. Olangchungola checkpoint shut due to coronavirtus menace

The operation of Taplejung-based Olangchungola border checkpoint has been shut for definite time at the request of local administration of China. People’s mobility through the border checkpoint has been restricted due to possible outbreak of coronavirus infection. Bearing in mind the possible spread of coronavirus infection in neighbouring country, the authorities have banned people’s mobility in and around transit point. China has been struggling to contain the outbreak of the viral infection. Ward chairperson of Faktanglung rural municiplaiuty-7, Olangchungola, Chheten Sherpa informed that the Reu administration of Tibet, China on January 30 had requested to forbid people’s movement to the zone for some days. He also shared that the Chinese administration urged the Nepali side to ban mobility in the zone immediately following the return of Chinese workers’ team which was working in road construction in Nepal. Chairperson Sherpa further said, “The Reu administration requested us to disallow people’s movement through the checkpoint for some days in order to avert possible outbreak of infectious coronavirus. There is no people’s mobility along the area right now”. “Shutdown of transit point operation and people’s mobility for 1-2 months would not be a trouble.
