DPM Pokhrel makes aerial inspection of Kalapani

Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Ishwar Pokhrel today made an aerial inspection of Kalapani in the remote north-west part of the country. The Deputy Prime Minister who had this morning left the district headquarters Khalanga for Kalapani inspected the area by a Nepal Army helicopter as the landing was not possible due to the presence of heavy snow at the site. Kalapani is situated in Byas rural municipality of Darchula district bordering China to the north and India to the west. It may be noted Nepal has been expressing its objection after India lately placed Nepali territories of Kalapani, Lipulek and Limpiyadhura in its political map. The Deputy Prime Minister and his team made the aerial inspection of the encroached Nepali territory as the situation did not permit the landing, said Far West state deputy speaker Nirmala Joshi Badal. During the visit, he was made aware of Indian security posts set up at a distance of three kilometers along the border in Kalapani. He also observed the proposed site for establishing an Armed Police Force’s border security outpost (BOP). NC not in mood to topple govt: leader Nidhi

Nepali Congress Vice-President Bimalendra Nidhi has said that his party is in no mood to topple the incumbent government. Vice-President Nidhi said this while speaking in a news conference organised by Press Union, Chitwan, here today. He added that the issue of government change is the internal issue of the ruling party. The NC Vice-President argued, “We are not in a mood to topple the government. We are engaged in preparation of party’s general convention.” He expressed the view that the party’s 14th general convention would be held as per the schedule, claiming that the NC has been running as per the NC’s statute and agreement. Underground electric wire installation campaign begins; PM hopeful of beautiful urban setting

An ambitious plan of installing underground electric wires in the Kathmandu Valley has formally begun. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli today inaugurated the project amid an event here. In the first phase, the project will start in Maharajgunj and Ratnapark areas and expand to other areas gradually, according to the government’s plan. The project has been initiated by the Nepal Electricity Authority under the direction of the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation. Addressing the event, PM Oli said with this, a new chapter of development has started. Installation of underground telephone, electric and internet cables would add to the beauty of the cities, he said. “Stray wires will be removed under this project. Now the cities will glow,” he said, adding that the project would be expanded to major cities of the country. Efforts are underway to remove tuine ( ropeway) from across the country, he said in another context.
