Two sisters held captive in India rescued

Two girls, who were taken captive in India for the past six months, have been rescued on Thursday night. A police team deployed from Boarder Police Post, Maheshpur, of West Nawalparasi, rescued them from Kamtabazaar of Maharajgunj district in India, with the support of Maiti Nepal and Indian Police. The rescued girls are sisters of the same family of Bardaghat in Nawalparasi. Police rescued them after their mother filed complaint asking police to rescue her daughters and handed over them to the parents after rescuing them. Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, West Nawalparasi, Birendra Thapa, said that further investigation into the case was underway. Thapa said, “Search for the involved in the incident is on.” Mother of the girls said that a woman had taken them with herself in India, alluring them of providing good job in a shop but had given physical, mental and financial torture as well as they were taken captive...

Central transmission line on expansion

The central transmission line is also to be connected in Rukum (east). The drive for expanding central transmission line to all local levels including district headquarters Rukumkot is gaining pace. It may be noted that Nepal Electricity Authority’s transmission centre was established in the district in the Nepali month of last Asoj (September-October). The office also has expedited the tasks of expanding electric cables, erecting poles and installing transformer, among others. The NEA has intensified its preparation to expand national transmission across the district. New species of bird found in Chitwan

A new species of bird ‘Purbiya Fulbari’ was found at Chitwan National Park in Nepal. According to the ex-President of Bird Education Society Chitwan and bird expert Basu Bidari, Society’s member Raju Tamang found the new species of bird on Thursday. Bidari further shared that the bird has entered Nepal through Mongolia, Japan, and India among others to ward off cold. Though the aquatic bird was first found in Nepal’s Koshi Tappu and West Nepal it is the first time that the bird was spotted in Chitwan, he shared. Four areas identified for Nepalgunj’s prosperity

Four commercial areas have been identified to contribute to the economic development of Nepalgunj sub-metropolis. With the technical assistance of German government, the sub-metropolis has identified vegetable, fruits, food processing and milk (dairy) as top commercial points through a 11-day workshop. The sub-metropolis came up with the move as part of its Local and Provincial Economic Development Project.
