Police seize over one million pieces facemasks

The Kathmandu Police arrested five persons alongside over one million pieces facemasks they were dealing to sell on the black market. Police have intensified a search against the black-marketing of daily essentials and emergency goods including the facemask lately. According to Kathmandu police chief Uttam Raj Subedi, police seized the masks along with a vehicle (Ba 7 Cha 7263) at Milanchok near Kapan in Kathmandu on Sunday evening. The arrestees are Tekram Shrestha, 30, of Okhaldhunga; Sanjay Regmi, 34, of Bara; Ajim Bax Miya, 26 of Chitwan; RDG International Suppliers’ proprietor Suraj Goyal, 24 of Kathmandu and the same company’s co-founder Indian national Suvas Maheshwari, 37. All 467 individuals examined so far, test negative for COVID-19

Subhanu Acharya All individuals who had their health checkups tested negative for Covid-19 in Nepal till Sunday, an official at the Ministry of Health and Population said. Chief Consultant at the Ministry Dipendra Raman Singh said that the test of all 467 individuals is negative. At a programme organised by Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) here on Monday, provision of intensive care treatment is managed in three hospitals in the country adding that experts have been deployed for the treatment. Baluwatar land scam: Special Court sends Poudel to custody

The Special Court on Monday sent the then Section Officer of Dilli Bazar Land Revenue Office Krishna Prasad Poudel to custody in connection to Lalita Niwas land scam. A division bench of Shivaraj Adhikari and Chandra Bahadur Saru issued the order. NOC revises petroleum products price

The Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has slashed the prices of petrol, diesel, and kerosene effective from midnight today. As per the fresh announcement, the price of petrol, kerosene and diesel is lowered by Rs 2 per liter. With this, a liter of petrol will cost Rs 106 whereas kerosene and diesel will cost Rs 95. Government suspends labour approval for foreign employment for indefinite period

The government has suspended the labour approval for foreign employment for an indefinite period bearing in mind the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic. A meeting of the Novel Coronavirus Disease Prevention and Control High Level Coordination Committee took a decision to this effect. The decision came into effect from today. Foreign Employment Office, Tahachal’s Umesh Basnet said the labour approval has been suspended until further notice. Nepal received an intense pressure for not sending workers to South Korea, Malaysia, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Bahrain, and Kuwait remaining as the major labour destinations for Nepalis following the Covid-19 outbreak there. The Ministry of Labour and Transport was preparing to suspend the labour approval, but the decision was awaited. The government has already decided not to send workers to the South Korea till the end of March. Similarly, the government of Qatar has already banned entry of citizens of 14 countries including Nepal to Qatar due to the detection of coronavirus there while Kuwait has suspended the visa to foreign nationals.
